Talk about stressful. A bit skin of the teeth by the sound of it.

and with USA scoring, Slovenia come away with nothing despite probably playing the better football in the group.

Nah wasn't skin of the teeth really, had a perfectly good goal disallowed and were by far the better team, should have won 4 or 5 really.

Main thing was the performance! Serbia were very poor, offering very little threat, partly owing to some excellent well organised defending.

Alan Hanson actually got it right with his first comment - we played well for 75 minutes.

A typical England performance where we need to make some last chance tackles just to stay ahead - I thought John Terry's horizontal dive was priceless!

Thought we did ok and apart from their two late chances they were kept at arms length. A much better England tempo tonight but still going to need a lot more

Good attitude, played well but England have to take their chances more to finish teams though give the Slovenia keeper some credit for several good saves.
Rooney still seems off the pace a bit, Milner did well and the 2 Chelsea bad boys Cole and Terry were Englands best players.

I thought the whole team played well and certainly much better than Wednesdays game. Liked the after match huddle that seemed to be organised by Terry.

However, there was for me, one negative and one disappointment.

The negative: Frank Lampard, apart from one forward pass that came to nothing, only ever passed the ball sideways. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but he never put anyone through or played a forward attacking ball!

The disappointment: Joe Cole, ran around a lot but never really achieved much. I know it's difficult to come on in the last 20 minuites, but he didn't really make the impact that everybody probably thought he would, myself included.

Looking forward to the knockout games and as long as they KEEP THAT BALL, AND CHASE IT DOWN, when they lose it, we have as good a chance as any other team.

it would help if they were played in the right positions.
when Cole came on he should have gone on the left and Gerrard moved into the central slot.

I'd like to see the two Coles and Lampard start on the leftside - it's what they do week in, week out
