Anyone got a decent laptop for sale???

As a last resort, try this.
Transfer ALL the data you want to keep onto some kind of external memory, phots, music etc then switch it off.
When you switch it back on, immediately, press ALT on the keyboard and start tapping F10.
Continue holding ALT and tapping F10 as the unit boots up. A screen stating "Starting Acer Erecovery" should appear.
(Release ALT and stop tapping F10 at this point)
Choose Restore System Factory Default

Bob's your mum's brother.

This will empty everything and reinstall the machine to how it was the day you bought it so you will lose everything.
HTH :)

Thing is Bob, there's nothing on there that we'd need to save! She hasn't any photo or music files on there, she literally uses it for web browsing and emails etc.
The poxy thing has run slow from the very start, so even if we did what you suggest I don't think we are going to see a marked improvement.

Might be worth doing it, then removing all the crap that Acer ship pre-installed. My work PC is an Acer and I spent ages removing everything I didn't want.

MacBook any day of the week. I've been wanting one for ages it's just justifying the price. Ive had a play with one a few times in the Apple store and I just can't fault them one little bit.
