I like winter tees.....look how short my course is :)

Under 80....anyone?

Typical, can't buy a good Medal round off the whites!!

i.i.r.c. I won't get moved on this....

700-800 more?

I'm not sure where these yards are, certainly LOTS more yards on 2 of the par 3s.....oh, and about 100 and a lake on the 15th :)

Looks pretty tidy apart from the one double. I've been working down the range today instead of playing the course which by all accounts was extremely wet and boggy. Going to a range in Slough tomorrow with a dedicated short game area (our practice ground is sodden) to start the hard work on my pitching and putting

Tidy...I should say so. The only "mistake" I made, other than 3 putting the first () was at the 6th. I promised bobmac I'd take notes about my fairway wood (17 degree steelhead II)....I used it 9 times today and hit some peaches, but managed a horrible pull that lead to a double.....

i.m.o. a winter sss of 67 is a joke, the big boys were driving the par 4s, there was no shortage of eagles according to the assistant.

Our winter course is a fair bit shorter on most holes, if even just on the front sticks rather than different tees.
I find winter golf so much easier as I find its more like darts, the ball will never run too far from where it lands which is the opposite in the summer.

That looks so much fun!

Played like a right plonker today, shot 15 over yesterday and 26 over today! I cant play on frozen greens, next time I wake up and see frozen ground im turning over and going back to sleep.

It was -1 when I go to the range and there was still a frost on the mat. However after about 30 minutes I had to stop and take my base layer off. Ended up in just a golf shirt and jiumper and was more than warm enough in that. A lovely morning and ghopefully a few more days like this with maybe a bit more wind and the course will dry out

Minus 3 this morning.

I stayed in bed.

I'd thought about this, but booked a time regardless until some b***** reminded me to cancel my whole day to go Valentines shopping...???? argh....

I bought HID some flowers and stuff, then when she wanted to into town, I said, "Can't, I heard a rumour some lads are (were) playing 11.00am ".....some of the clever chaps have moved their golf 3 hours later to lie in and avoid the frost.....good boys!!!!

I hate everything about winter golf.

Winter tees
weather
playing off mats
Short course
temp greens
boggy course
3 layers on
holotined greens
dark nights
etc.etc

Only good for getting away from the kids for a while and get some fresh air

I agree with you, only my thread was about playing short holes! Nothing more confidence building than getting round under your h'cap and realising that you still have some game left after the weeks of closed/wrecked courses.

Only thing going for winter tee's is they are usually flat & level. Though even that isn't guarenteed. Other than that, I really hate winter tees, as they are guarenteed to be covered in grit guarenteed to ruin the sole of any Iron, as teeing up on matts outdoors is pointless, so only option is to hit off the deck on them... Nah, don't like winter tees.

Winter greens are a pointless if at this time of year, needed evil, generally.

Boggy courses cannot be helped on some courses & at the end of the day its our choice whether to play or not.

Cannot really do anything about the short days & yes its a pain, but hey, its winter, so yes its going to be cold & inclement in general.

But, if the weather, conditions & ambient temp is bareable, then why not play, even if its over a short course with temp geens & tees, as in this winter layup we all need practice that doesn't involve being stood on the range hitting unrealistic balls to an unrealistic condition of what is really a field with markers off the same mats as you'dget on the course. Only difference being the range matts are usually grit free.

So hate winter tees, but any golf is better than no golf at all.

It's a good point. I'm just thankful we play on real greens...they were quite good this weekend...

Went up to Ascot this afternoon for some short game work (didn't get to the other course to use their short game area). The course was fully open and back on proper greens and according to thos I spoke to in pretty good knick apart from one or two bad areas

Determined to play tomorrow, with an impending company do at Celtic manor coming up. I really need to get the game dusted off & brasso'd up to reletive perfection. Well maybe not perfection, but try & get it as close as I can in 4 weeks as I can, dodgy knee allowing.

So its 40 minutes to an hour putting, same chipping, piching & bunker. 9 holes on the accademy course.More putting, more chipping, another 9 & finish up with some more putting.

Next week it'll be back to the full length courses again. Couldn't care less what sort of tee I'll be hitting off, just so long as I'm out there again.
