Annual Handicap Review

Well this morning i was told by the Handicap Secretary that after the yearly review that my handicap has been put up a shot to 13,i knew i'd had a crap season but didn't expect that ,thats now 4 shots in 2 1/2 years. Next i'll be playing of the reds and wearing a skirt.

Warning to all in the Tayside/Fife area the Tay Bridge might be shut soon as i may decide to jump from it, bloody 13 it must 5 years since i played of that.

Anyone else had there handicap put up ?
 
ouch mate, on the plus side once you get the game going should be able to take everyones cash with all those shots:mad:

Yes but only by 0.1 everytime i play in a comp;)

I know what you mean mate,but my mates have disowned me saying i'm a chopper, let the pot hunting begin,lol.
Have been getting lessons over the winter and have been hitting it not bad ,but injuries to both wrists is hampering my practise time.

Yip, started last season at a new club off 13.7 finished at 14.5 and up to 15.5 after review. Im effectively up 4 shots in 4 years, im certain i'll drop 2 shots again by mid May though but we shall see.

2 shots extra at the GM v HDID challenge though :thup: ;)

Need to ask this question... whats with these 0.1s all about, I am reletively new to golf and understand how the handicap system works to a degree but dont understand how you can be handicap 11.7 for example? Would be great if someone could clear this up without making me feel like a complete tool for not knowing.

Dead easy, if you dont play to your handicap you will go up 0.1 regardless of how high you shoot in the round.

11.7 is an "exact handicap" which is rounded up to 12 as the "playing handicap".
11.4 "exact handicap" would be rounded down to 11 "playing handicap".
 
We don't have handicap reviews. Instead we still get cut in the winter if your playing well. just been given a 1.2 shot cut. Very happy chappy, gets me one shot closer to my aim of 7 for next season.

We have one at the end /start of the year but our handicaps don't change in the winter, great for you tho fella well done.
I'm just a bit hacked of about it to be honest it just shows hoe bad i've played since the heady heights of 21/2 years ago when i played of 9., ah well onwards and upwards as they say

Your club has to conduct an Annual Review.
 
Thing is with handicaps it should reflect how you are playing in the current time unless you havent played for 6 months then it could be false. There is this American guy who offers darts advice which is called Flight school. In that he says you should never compete with yourself as it only leads to disappointment and when you do beat yourself then you strive to beat it again and in doing so you will fail more than you achieve. So its important to not compare yourself to old and just play to the current game and do your best in that and as you havent set yourself to try and beat your personal best for example you should take something positive out of it.
