This past few days I've been toying with a return to golf. I've not played for 2 years and my last qualifying score was 2 years ago.

I've tried to figure out what happens with regard to my handicap. I think it is "resurrected" as it was? I'd rather prefer to have to put 3 cards in and those, together with my previous playing record, would allocate me a shiny new handicap but not sure it works like that?

This sudden whim to play again may evaporate but you never know!

Your Handicap Index and record will be as it was.
You can always request a review after submitting a few scores if it no longer reflects your ability.

Put in a few general play cards and it could rocket up, just read the WHS survey thread

That would be my plan if I start playing again. I certainly won't be anywhere near my old scores and to be honest would prefer not to get as obsessed about improving and getting my handicap down as that started to suck the fun out of the game for me.
