Shortly after i posted on this good forum on wednesday last week i started feeling pretty bad... shakes, sweating, feeling sick. Left work early to go get the wife and go home. Just picked her and the wee one up and then BAM... felt like i had been shot in the stomach with a shotgun. 10 minutes later i was in an ambulance on the way for a 2 night stay in hospital. I had a virus, they still don't know what it is and i've to go back in for an endoscapy!
First things first: MASSIVE thanks to all of the staff that treated and looked after me. I think we all take a lot of people a bit too much for granted in this life and i'd like everyone to know that the staff at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary were amazing. Especially the nurses who quite clearly have to deal with a lot, but just get on with it with a smile on their faces )
I never managed to play golf yesterday as i'm still too knackered, but it kind of makes you realise that golf really shouldn't be the pressured situation that a lot of us make it. It's only a game and no matter where you are on a golf course - it could be a hell of a lot worse.
Lastly, i'd like you all to know that there are a lot of decent people still out there. When the pain hit, i had to get out the car, but i just collapsed in a heap on the pavement. Many people stopped to offer help, luckily the 1st was a first aider. A woman came out of our house to hold our baby daughter so as my wife could tend me as well. Big thanks to you, whoever you are!
Anyway, hopefully i'll be back playing golf at the weekend and playing well. but if not, i'll look back on that moment and think "It could be a hell of a lot worse!"
