I have only been looking through the forum for the last few months but have found it absolutely invaluable in regards to seeing what everyone has an opinion about. What does everyone think about the coming season-is Tiger a spent force or are we coming to a new era of golfs young superstars? Personally i'd like to see a shift in the dominance of golf from the Americans back to europe with the likes of Padraig Harrington,Sergio Garcia and hopefully Rory McIllroy. What do you think?????????? :)

I think that the rest of the guy's hold their own. American's aren't as good as they used to be, or as someone once put it their not as good as they think they are.

I think a new era of european dominance is just around the corner. Admittedly the Americans have talent also, but we seem to have it in abundance currently, which is great for the european tour, and great for the game of golf.

Hopefully EU will have a good year, and go from strength to strength by regaining the Ryder Cup in 2010. My money is on Alvaro Quiros to have a big year. I'm sure Tiger will still be the dominant force in golf (when he regains his sharpness), but there will be others hot on his tail.

Tiger will still be the man to beat this year, but there are others now stepping up to challenge him, and some are Americans, good young players like Boo Weekley and Dustin Johnson who can hit the ball miles, the tried and tested like Mickleson Perry and Leonard.

Europe though have talent in ubundence this season with Harrington, Garcia, Quiros, Donald, Rose, Polter, Westwood, and Sweeds Stenson Karlsson and Hanson plus Rory Mclroy bursting on to the seen with a fantastic start to this campain.

I just hope we can give a good account of ourselves over in the states and maybe get a European wearing the Green Jacket this year.

In answer to the OP, Tiger is not a spent force but he may still need a little more match play to fire on all cylinders, then again he may not.

The US are never far away and in terms of golf it only takes a small blip to change the betting odds. After all half of the players mentioned from europe were in the losing RC team not the winning one and as far as individual performances go, yes we have some exciting tallent and consistancy but the really big tournaments are one golf arena where the best has to be played against the best, which in majors can sometimes come from the unexpected as well as the predicted. I would'nt write off the yanks but at the moment we look to have the upper hand(JUST) at the moment.

Boo Weekley is hardly in the 'young upcoming' bracket, he's 36 !

I dont think either side of the pond is set to 'dominate' particularly, the best players will always show what they can do when they are hot, which is seemingly best shown in the Majors,.... Woods, Mickelson, Harrington etc.

Personally, as they have been there for quite some time now, I just hope that some of the new blood like McIlroy, Quiros, Kim, and others, go on to become the new 'greats'.
They definitely have the ability and the length, its all down to temperament now.

I don't think it's as simple as US or Europe dominating, there are too many good players from outside of both that you discount at your peril, Ogilvy, Villegas for example.

TW's not a spent force, just think it will longer than many others for him to get back to his 'new' best, which may not be as dominant as of yore.
