Am I the only person who carries only 3 wedges?

My mate slags me for having a PW AP2 710, 52 degree Vokey, 56 Degree SW Vokey and 60 degree Cleveland 588.

I want to change the PW for a Vokey. The right wedges are very useful I said. He said why not just keep the PW and SW and hit them less or more depending on the shot. I said that with my 52 I know that if I'm 80-90 yards out, I'm gunning that green everyday full shot. SW is for bunkers, and the 60 when I'm needing to lob it over something. PW feels far too heavy compared to the others and the Vokeys just feel more accurate.

I gave him a shot of the 52 and he couldn't believe the difference to his G30s. Each to their own and all that. If they work for you, why not have as many as you like :)

Why is he "slagging you off" ?

I have 4 - PW(46), 52, 56 and 60.

One of my most reliable shots is a Full on 60 degree wedge. Goes 100yds and comes down from a height that it rarely moves. Thin the odd one for sure, but the good one outweigh the bad. In fact I could thin any club as easily as the 60.

Bit jealous, it really doesn't matter whether its dry or raining, baked fairway or bogey, uphill lie or downhill lie, windy or calm, raised green or downhill shot, 80-90 yards is just a 52° full shot every time? ;)

Oh of course. And I knock it 3 feet from the pin too :P

I was generalising for the thread :)

Grinds! I have to laugh when people tell me their grinds on their wedges (no offense to you 3565) its just your post reminded me of the technobabble many handicap golfers use and insist on having a 'special' grind on their wedges as they fat/thin/clunk their way around the course:rolleyes:

They havent a clue, and I will wager the majority of golfers are the same

none taken. But now you have companies who do a generic g,h,j,k,m wot ever grinds that they do. I want a wedge that works for my swing/action and not what they think I've got. I agree with what your saying and I've never really understood until I've had a fitting, we go get driver/iron/putter fittings so why not wedge fitting to help? I also think it depends on what standard of golf you play to!

I'm not a fan of hitting a full LW or a full wedge or any description. I'm not good enough to warrant a LW as it costs more shots than it saves but I'm with you on the gapping in the other wedges

Four here as well if you count my pw as one.

For me more shots points made around the green and hitting into the green than having a club that plugs a gap between my 4 iron and hybrid! Or having a extra wood

PW, 52, 56 & 58. I hit my high irons pretty far compared with most so need plenty of options. Also, my 58 is my go to around the green for going over bunkers etc so that's why it's kept its space in the bag.

3 for me. PW (46°), Gap Wedge (50°) and SW (56°).

Seem to do me okay.
