Just had to post and say what a damned good chap he seems to be, and was great to see him lift the Dubai title yesterday.

What a round too, fantastic golf nearly wrecked by 1 hole, but followed by an Ace, and then some stunning Golf to get to -11 to win it.

I love watching him, love his passion and smiling demeanor, - the new Seve in many ways. Even when in bother, -he just gets on with it, and smiles after. Well done Mr Quiros, and bring it on for the rest of the season.

Woods- take note, in fact, stay back in the US please, they deserve you, and as I dont watch the US PGA Coverage, I wont have to watch your slapped arse face for a while.

I cannot abide Woods. Like you say, I hope he stays on the PGA Tour which, for me, has lost all it's glamour. I'll be firmly in the European Tour camp this season.

As someone who has loved watching Woods from day 1, I think what he has done for the game cannot be overestimated but I find his recent behavior horrible. Spitting on the greens is disgusting and shows such a lack of respect for all his competitors the spectators and owners of the course. I have been one who has stuck up for him and hoped he would return to his best but not anymore I hope his career is over, his attitude stinks and I dont want to see him play anymore.

I walked with Quiros at the London Club the last time the ET was there and he was such a great character. A ready smile and a fabulous game!

Great admirer of Tiger and what he has/is doing for the game but there is no excusing his gob yesterday.Gob away if you want but do it discreetly,I do,not on the green especially with one that looked like it was full of elastic!

It isn't just him though,no one has taken time to mention Marino who did at least one on each hole on the back 9 last night, mostly on the tee.

Like the way Quiros seems so relaxed on the course!

Woods really does not seem to have a clue about basic manners.
Can he not be fined?
Can a jounalist not get a back bone and tell him (not ask him about it) that it is disgusting and he needs to grow up!!!!

Our GM crew got their interview a week too early!!!

To be honest, I dont care who it was, behaviour like spitting on the green should mean a huge fine or instant disqualification, it just shouldnt be tolerated in the professional game of Golf, no matter who the hell you are.

End of.

It might be done by footballers and a whole host of other sports, but I personally dont want Golf looking to football for lessons in etiquette and sportsmanship.

Interesting to also see a few previous TW supporters joining in the condemnation, - please feel free to also email the European Tour with your thoughts on the incident too.........

the reporting of the Dubai on the radio news this morning was 'Woods failed to win for the 17th successive time' and 'Woods to face censure, fine or warning, over spitting incident on the 12th green'.

Not one word about Quiros winning.

What have the R&A got to do with it?

How come every (well, alright 3) thread gets mutated into a Woods bashing thread? Why has his name even come up here?

Well done Quiros. Not because he isn't Tiger, but because he won, and seems a thoroughly nice bloke, albeit a tad Spanish.

Just read on Eurosport that Woods is to be fined... And rightly so. Such a bad example for young viewers and player of the game. I know he's having a bad run, but he has to remember he is still a role model for younger players. Does spitting on greens, dropping/throwing clubs set a good example?? I think not.

Well done Quiros. It's about time we had some different names on these trophies. Hopefully this will show other professionals that the trophies are not just reserved for the "big names" like Westwood, Woods, Mcilroy, Poulter et al.

Quiros has won every single year he's been on tour, now #21 in the world. That makes him a "big name" in my book, judging by the groups that he goes out with the ET class him as a "big name" too.

I stand corrected.

wasn't intended as a Woods bash - just the one sided reporting

Just to clarify. I was being an ar$e in my previous post. I genuinely stood corrected.

I had no idea Alvaro Quiros was ranked at 21 in the world. Just watched his interview with on Sky after the win was confirmed. Seems like a really nice, genuine fella.
