I'm up at 6.00 to get myself ready for my Winter Pairs Knock Out match at 8.10. I arrive at the course at 7.30 get myself ready and we tee off on time. We have a great game and win 2 and 1 in very windy conditions.
We get back to the clubhouse where I change and order myself a big breakfast, we sit and chat for an hour and a bit and I leave as I'm off to watch my local non league football team. I'm a big supporter of them and see as many games as possible. The 50 minute drive is pleasant as I listen to the Stoke/Sunderland game on the radio.

Into the ground 2.45 and meet up with my mates for a chat before our game. We go 1 down in 15 minutes (we are 6th from bottom in the league) but a great fightback sees us take a 3-1 advantage in at half time.
The second half and the visiters throw everything at us, but our normally shaky defence hold out until the 90 minute when they score. More desperate defending as the minutes tick by, another long ball into the box, it bounces and their striker hammers it low into the net, scenes of pandimonium on their bench as their managers and staff start running about everywhere only for them to see the slow raising of the linesman flag for offside. One kick later and the match is over, a much needed 3-2 win see us go up one place in the league.

Into the car and head for home (20 mins) and listen to all the reports and goals in the Premiership. Arrive home at approximately 5.20, dump my golf gear in the hall and ask the good lady if she can run me down to the pub as I am meeting a few friends to watch the Wolves/Man Utd game on the big screen, no problems.
I get into the pub just as Nani scores. We watch the game but dont enjoy the result as Wolves deserve the points in which is not a good United performance. I've had my fill of beer and start the walk home with a quick phone call to say that I am on my way. I get in at 8.00pm and my dinner is ready at 8.20.
We sit down at about 9.00pm to watch a film, and surprizingly I dont see the end of it, but do I care :) :)
Not one bit. What a great day.

A Man U fan from Surrey, what a surprise!

r1965h

I admit that Man U are the professional team that I follow and have done so since 1963. I have been up to Old trafford on numerious occasions, but not since the mid 70's. One of my best friends who I meet down the pub comes from just outside of Manchester and often goes up and watches them as his family still live up there, although he has lived down south for nearly 35 years.

If you read my post you see that I actually support my local non league team, from the town from where I was born. I have been a regular supporter home and away for very nearly 40 years, I have been a trustee of the club, a committee man and a director. i am a regular contributor to the programme, in which i have an article in tomorrow night, and i also run a supporters fund to help the club survive.

I have been to tuesday night away games in the London Senior cup where the crowd has been less than 50 people in the pouring rain, whilst Man U have been playing champions league on the TV, so please.

For the record, i have also seen Spurs win the UEFA Cup and the League Cup at the old Wembley, and i dont see myself as a Spurs fan either. As for the Premier League it could all fall apart today as far as I am concerned.

SO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM
