Thought I'd open this for anyone that likes a little flutter on the football or whatever else.

Feel free to post tips before the event and hopefully help others to win a few quid

I'll get the ball rolling..

Man City, Leeds and Rotherham to win their respective leagues at 113.40. Don't think Arsenal have the firepower and no one else will be in the mix IMO. Leeds look big favourites in The Championship as a lot of their rivals have lost either their manager or key players. Birmingham are big favourites in League One but it's a tricky league and Rotherham have an experienced side, made good signings and Evans knows the league better than anyone. Worth a fiver at those odds!

As a lifelong Rotherham fan it’s nice to hear someone else backing them 😃

All of the Leagues (barring the PL obviously) are tricky to predict. Leeds is a fair shout for Championship. After that, its a lottery.

My only visit to New York was when I went to Rotherham for a Boro match. Well impressed with Matt Crooks, and disappointed when he he left for Salt Lake City in January. Dan Barlaser is a bit frustrating. Capable of a great match, or parts of, but then goes missing for weeks. Wish he’d step up but wouldn’t be too disappointed if Fenerbache firmed up their interest.

And yes, I’m backing them too.

I only bet on the golf majors now. Had a decent year as I've had the winner in 3 out of the 4. I used to do football accumulators but they just never, ever come in for me so I gave up. Even less likely to win one now given that I barely watch any football.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but I couldn't help myself.

Nice to see how much confidence was shown towards our chances in League One.

Rotherham appeared to be a favoured choice, current situation:-

Rotherham 56 points
Birmingham 105 points

Steve Evans sacked
Chris Davies League One Manager of the Season.

Think I had better look elsewhere for my tips in the future, although Leeds was a good shout in the Championship.

I've just noticed this thread. I'll start putting my weekly football accumulator on here, it'll free up space on the laughter thread.

In my defence I did add this as a value bet at odds of over 110/1! Birmingham were such low odds it really wasn't worth backing unless you're going to stick thousands on. I can't remember exactly but I'm sure you were under evens.

Also worth noting Wycombe were top in January and you were winning games by small margins. It's only in the last few months you hit top form and started whacking sides while they dropped off big time.

I think writing Liverpool off was the worst shout there 😒

We were the bookies' favourite but we were odds against at the start of the season.

However, fans from a number of other clubs did predict a big shock lying in wait for us. But we never took either the League or promotion for granted.

Top throughout October and then went top again just before Christmas and remained there ever since.

Pretty consistent throughout with 33 points from first 15 games, 37 from next 15 and 35 from last 14.

And whilst money was spent it was nothing like the amounts reported, certainly not on a net spend basis.

I know the figure for Stansfield was inflated and it wasn't £20m like the papers said. That said you did spend more than whole league combined and already had decent starting point! Credit to the players who got stuck in, were dragged down to other teams levels and battled away to those narrow wins. Then in the final few months you've put the foot down especially with regards to goals scored.

I see you're as low as 6/1 to win the Championship next season, which seems crazy low. How do you think you'll get on?

Another shock for me is if you said at the start of the season none of Bolton, Huddesfield, Rotherham or Peterborough would make the play offs....

Whilst many of the current squad could be considered "Championship standard" and would see the team survive back at the higher level I think we will need to strengthen in a few positions if we are to justify such short odds.

So recruitment is again key.

It will be interesting to see how the three relegated sides react. Personally I see Ipswich as the most likely to be back at the top end. The other two seem to have more issues to address but, of course, they could well get those sorted and challenge again.

Sides like Coventry, Bristol City, Blackburn and now Milwall have shown that the play-offs are in reach for many of the clubs and then there are serial contenders such as Middlesbrough, Norwich and West Brom.

In answer to your question I think the answer is it's too early to say but, with the right recruitment, a challenge for at least a play-off place is a real possibility.

We shall have to wait and see.
