I know a few here do the PGA or European Tour fantasy sports, but anyone does else play DFS where you put your money where your mouth is?

I only discovered it a couple of weeks ago, didn't realise it was a thing.
For someone who likes a flutter to make watching sports more interesting but is rubbish at betting and knows it, it's brilliant.

The golf for example, you can pick a team of 6 players to follow for as little as about 20p.

On the site I'm using you can also set up your own private contests.

Anyone else already play?

I use draftkings Gary yes, mainly only in the bigger tournaments where you get the bigger prizepools.

Important to understand the scoring criteria work out how that translates to the course they are playing on then find players to fit the 2. Bonus points can often be more important than just finishing positions

That's what I'm using too. Hopefully I'm not entering the tournaments that you are. :)

By bonus points do you mean the points for bogey free rounds, birdie streaks etc, or everything that isn't based on finishing positions?

anything that isnt based on finishing positions really, courses that can throw up high volume birdies and eagles this becomes especially important. first trick is getting everyone to play 4 rounds though!

if you google theres plenty of (american) podcasts which preview tournaments from a fantasy sports perspective, worth watching a few as you will pick up some interesting strategy angles, especially regarding how heavily picked players are likely to be and the impact that has (no point having the best value guy if almost everyone does), being contrarian in the right spots can prove very worthwhile

This ones ok (albeit hard work watching americans!)

Thanks Steve. I've been reading a bit on DFS websites about strategy but not tried a podcast yet, although part of that is because I don't want names put in my head that everyone else will pick.

I'm getting the impression picking the unpopular guys is good for the pig pot (compared to outlay) comps, while going for solid picks is better for double ups and smaller prizes.

The other thing I've got so far is that Mickelson's 72 is likely to score more points than Haas's 72.

Thankfully I only had Stenson in a couple of entries!

Guys before you do this, read up on the programmers out there who write codes to take people on one-on-one and defeat them in these events. It is massively prevalent in fantasy baseball. I play a lot of fantasy American sports and would not touch Draftkings or any other similar site with a bargepole.

Im fully aware PS, a lot of crossover with sports betting and poker world. As someone with a sports trading background, the code is still only as good at the data input and the assumptions made (albeit does it a lot quicker and easier) and like anything you have to start somewhere and doing so manually is the best to understand all the nuances of the games and how to base your assumptions

Do you mean they have programs to make selections based on rules/criteria set in the software?

Or do you mean there is a form of cheating or underhandedness going on?

Both. There have been enough cases of employees with inside information using it to their advantage and there are some serious organisations involved in bulk entries on a daily basis to take advantage of innocent newcomers.
