Bit strong like... :D

This was written just after reading the OP's comments on Sergi Garcia on a different thread which, more or less, were equally as harsh and all because he spat in the hole! - Not that I condone what he did!

I just think that peaple these days want to get everyone sacked for the most minor misdemeanor!

I'm not the OP, but to clarify, you dont want to be my friend because I dislike Sergio Garcia and wouldnt care if some adult who bullied kids lost his (child-based) job?

I'm good with those terms of non-friendship, it's a deal.

Don't remember reading that he "bullied" your son. He just made comment to others that you dont know for sure was ill intended and didn't confront him with before he left!

Chris, each to their own and all that, but can I suggest you actually read the thread and who contributes what before commenting? It really does make life easier!

Yes, sorry, I do accept that you were not the OP, my mistake.

I still feel, however, that your desire to have someone sacked for a comment that they are alledged to have made is a gross over reaction. I realise that bullying is unacceptable but not everyone who says something derogatory about another person (even a child) is necessarily a bully.

If that were the case, several of the posters on this forum would be up in court.

I'm not suggesting that this person should be sacked immediately, but if it's the correct course of action deemed appropriate by whoever is investigating, he will have got his come uppence. If they decide he's innocent and what he said was accurate, fair doo's, but we're talking(I guess) about a kid in primary school who's now at high school. So I'd put that down as bullying...verbal attacks can be more harmful than physical ones.

Just as well it wasnt Garcia who had been playing bowls, I'd have wanted him castrated!

I never once said I wanted this guy sacked.

If he hadn't of cleared off as quickly as he did I would of had a word with him. By the time I spoke to the person who he said it to, he was gone.
My son is 14 yrs old, (i dont see what that has to do with anything) No he wasn't in trouble at school (ever).
I'm not one of these perents that see their own doing no wrong, beleive me, I'd be the 1st to admit it.
I just find that a guy like this, in a job which has loads of children in, after a spell of 3 years can come out with this remark, just because this pesky kid was beating him, sour grapes on his part, yes. OTT on my part, I DONT THINK SO.
The letter is written, it's in the post, I await the reply.

I'm sorry, didn't see that in the OP.
The reason I asked was I didnt know what school he had just left 3 years ago. Primary or secondary school.
All clear now

Hmmmm, the guy has overstepped the mark and should at least get a talking to, which is the worst that will happen (unless his contract is not continued next year). Out of interest what position did he hold within the school, are we looking at TA, dinnerman or site management supervisor (always makes me laugh - caretaker)??

Me - I'd leave in Hibernian, take out Sergio and Kenny Dalgleish, make it illegal to report Scottish football in a Saturday or Sunday news bulletin, add Lydd Golf Club to your list and ask the European Court of Human Rights to stick their decisions where the sun don't shine

Perhaps we get along after all!

The chance of him losing his job over this is pretty remote. There are all sorts of processes that they will have to go through. Most likely is a warning.

For those who think the OP is OTT, look at it this way. Suppose it had been said about you, and you hadn't heard it. Subsequently you apply for membership of your golf club (or a job!) and one of the membership committee happened to have been present and heard the remark - you don't get accepted as a 'known troublemaker'.
Reputation is still everything - still think it's OTT?

I hope the school was a private one, I don't fancy my tax money paying for what will most likely be an over the top investigation into one relatively minor remark.

I think it has been handled pretty well. No private retribution and the threat of legal action and distress to your son seeing you behave that way. It's interesting that the school seemed genuinely upset and were all for putting it in writing and not trying to pass it off etc.

I don't think it will ever come to sacking. At worse it'll be some kind of written warning but more likely a stiff talking to or a verbal warning on file for 6-12 months.
