A&E Crisis - What's going on

There seems to be a growing societal problem in respcrt of individual rights and entitlement. As in - I am entitled to be seen and I am entitled to be seen NOW.

The concept of getting an appointment some days down the line, and then attending at the appointed time, is something that many today seem unable to contemplate and accept. And so they merrily plough along to A&E - and even then kick up a fuss if they are not seen as quickly as they'd like - regardless of anyone else waiting and their ailments.

And good post that of Ethan's

The trouble is folk tend to live in their own wee bubble now.
I was at our local A&E a few months ago with the head gardener.
She was concerned she had a detached retina and you don't mess about with them, into A&E as quick as possible.
She was seen quickly and told that it seemed all right but was asked to wait for another doctor with greater optical experience just to confirm the first doctors assessment.

We waited four hours, yes it was a Friday.
When the doctor came in she looked shattered and I asked if she had had a rough night.
Yes there was a couple of quite upsetting cases was all she said.

We have no idea of the stuff these doctors have to deal with and whilst my wife's eyesight was important to us we were extremely grateful to the two doctors for their time.
We left A&E at 5.30 am with a 9.15 am appointment to see the specialist.

A few thousand!! Give me a break.

'There is no so blind as those that don't want to see' Of course the genuinely disabled and sick should be cared for along with those who have fallen on hard times through no real fault of their own while they are temporarily out of work. Pensioners have by and large funded themselves by paying for at least 30 years into the pot. If you cant see what is going on around you and wonder why the welfare bill grew by 60% under Labour in times of relative prosperity then you are delusional .

Good read this:

The interesting bits for me are:
1)People believe 40% of welfare budget is spent on unemployment benefits. Truth 3%.
2)Thanks to press coverage people actually believe over a quarter of the welfare budget, 27%, is claimed fraudulently.( I'am taking it your one of them, my appologies if this assumption is incorrect.) The truth 0.7%, government figures, not mine.

I may be delusional Socket but i'am not on my own.
I also have enough intelligence to look beyond the headlines of certain daily publications.
I haven't resorted to questioning your intelligence, so please afford me the same respect.

We may have different political ideologies Socket but at least we have golf in common. I guess we're both mad.;)

I guess there is not much point reiterating our differing beliefs, they seem to both be fairly fixed. I could go wittering on about how we need to borrow massively to prop up the welfare state but you are right, we always have our golf to knock us down a peg.

Differences? What differences? Here? :)

All for golf and golf for all (well maybe not everyone :swing:
