I played with a 23yr old lad few weeks ago. He hit the ball a country mile and his shorter irons scraped the clouds. I guess he could hit 7i 170yds, probably a good bit more.
My pro says the lad will soon get down to 6 hcap, and also says he’ll get me down to 6, but as I’m a 63yr old it’ll be a different sort of 6 than the 23yr old. But we’ll still both be 6.
For me it’s what I do with my yardage rather than how much I’ve got.
I've never got my stats from a launch monitor and don't record my shots on Garmin, but 3 of our par 3s are 170-180 and it gets me pin high, if I strike it well, with or without a tee.
For reasons I don't understand, it only goes 150 off a good fairway lie. My 8 and 9-irons are also good for 150 off the fairway. ?
