I plan for 160 carry. Garmin tells me I average 158.

Although my last 7 iron shot on Sunday was a bit longer…

150 carry, MP20 HMB 32°. Although downwind today probably could have carried 250! ?

You need to work on your gapping ? there’s only 8 yards between your driver and 7 iron - are they 1 length clubs? asking for a friend ?

Not all 7 irons are the same. My 2009 Titleist AP2 is 35* loft with R400 Dynamic Gold shaft and I hit it 140 yards. The current equivalent Titleist T200 has 31* loft which is the equivalent of my 6 iron. Most manufacturers seem to be decreasing the loft of their irons in an attempt to sell them as distance improving irons.

I’ve got six clubs in the bag between driver and 7 iron so I’ve got every yard covered from 188-196 ?

Good observational skills! I was waiting for someone to comment on this. Tee shot is uphill so I lose 30+ yards and then second is downhill and I gain 30.

? That was a really poorly worded response from me.

What I meant was how do you judge carry distance if you are basing your distance on carry plus roll.
Because I know how much it's going to roll, it's not a total mystery is it? I just think of 7 iron as roughly 150 total. In winter I know it won't fly as far in the air and won't roll so it's more like 140. In the dryest days of summer it'll roll a bit more so 155. I know everyone says you need to know carry rather than total, but this is just the way I'm used to thinking of it. I'll never be someone who strikes it well enough to know my 7 iron is "146 carry" or whatever because it'll never be that consistent anyway so I'm fine thinking of it this way.

About 155 carry for me on average. (Mizzy jpx 921 forged so 32° i think).

My regular playing partners both out theirs out to about 170 but I've never got close to that.

It is something I'd like to get longer with (my irons) but its workable so I'm not overly worried.

PAverage from Shot Scope is 146, although I've only had it since October and my ball flight is low, so it will likely be along 155 summer.

I'm a bit like orikoru in that, although I do use Shot Scope and I like the data side of golf, I know I'm not consistent enough to worry about whether it's 146, 155 or something else. It's just the club I use when it's around 150 to the middle of the green.
