forgot to tell you all this. sunday at my away course 3 man texas scramble. me another boy and a club champion, i was up for it. so we go out in the morning bit breezy 2 club wind. i ve got gud history in these events so i say we need to be 6 under gross with a 2.9 handicap. we struggle but with 5 to play we are 3 over gross.
no word of a lie i say 'we need to birdie the last five! come on boys lets do it'
well we only gone and done it!!! and all three of us did our own wee bit. really enjoyed it even though we were 4th. come on folks 5 birdies on the trot, get in.

it also made me remember its not all about the winning its the taking part. (dib dib dib)

4 of us went out one Saturday afternoon, decided to do something a bit different so we played a scramble. Not a competition, just a bit of fun. Handicaps were 11, 10, 6 and one of the club pro's. We had 15 birdies, 1 eagle and 2 pars = 17 under gross

If only I could do that on my own card.............

Playing scramble Friday - just jealous.

best team event about, i know some on here dont like it.but when there is three or four in the team everyone gets to play there part. in doubles etc sometimes one player does all the work. our outings in the afternoon its texas scrambles. i love them

We assembled a makeshift team a day before our Texas scramble in Golf Week and birdied 9 of the last 10 holes to win on countback!

The 18th (par 3) had a car for a hole in one and I missied it by 2 foot according to the spotters

Is Texas scramble where everyone in your 3/4/5 man team chooses best ball then everyone plays from that spot? So you can see the putt line and your team has 3/4/5 putts from same spot?
Seems like its hard not to be under par for that format, can't see much self satisfaction but seems popular.......

The most satisfaction goes to the permanently high handicappers - they are really chuffed if the team manages a birdie on a tough par 4 as they would never have the remotest chance of a birdie playing on their own.

just another format, where really you should be at least level par or better gross. (less handicap 1/10th combined to max of 6) the satisfaction comes from the team bonding for me anyway, irrespective of the score.
