2iron bag in the bag........

the problem I have with mine is that it is a Wilson Staff Fluid feel - basic muscle back blade. I couldn't hit it 30 years ago, although I used a Ping Eye 1 iron all the time, so I doubt I could use it now (and the 1.68 ball is way bigger than the head as well!).

it would look 'very cool' in the bag, but as others have said it's really for long low tee shots only (in my hands)

I better just clarify, there's no way I'd attempt to hit the thing off anything other than a Tee !

Sure, I can hit my 3 & 4 irons well off the fairway, particularly the 4 which I love, but a 2iron off a tight lie might be just a very low bridge too far........

I've also dug out my Callaway Deuce WarBird (2W), which matches the 4 & 7W's I use, and I'm going to see if that can prove more reliable in putting me on the middle of the fairways.

I love it when you get an ace Drive away, and my 910 D3 is awesome when I get it right, frequently upwards of 280/290yds (measured), but as we all know, that aint worth diddly-squat if its in the trees/stream/clag.

The quest continues, and I WILL get down to 8/9 again this year.........I think........perhaps.......maybe.......

I did have Titleist 2 iron but i chucked it for a 503H 19* and it is great for solid distance and ball striking. although it is hard to shape the ball

yup my burner 1.0 3 iron is the same lenght and degree as a standard 2 iron, i wish i i could get 2(would really be a 1 ) iron in the set mind

Snap - its definitely the equivalent of the old 2i in loft and length (plus mine is 1& 1/4 " longer shaft on it)- I have just put this back in the bag and removed the R11 hybrid. Had so many strange ball flights with the hybrid that I lost confidence with it and it got carried round and never used.

3 rounds now with he 3 iron in and its going well - great for windy days.

i use a 2 iron aswell and love it......

what i really like about it is the lovely ball flight i can achieve and i'm hoping come the better weather i'll achieve lots of run out in the fairways with the low penetrating flight.great when its a strong head wind.

Quick update.
I'm liking the 2 iron........although only been used for practice so far. To be honest, it's very capable of putting me on the fairway not far short of an 'average' drive, but with seemingly more regularity, so just might be the way to go once the Comps start.
Last night, even tried it off the fairway, and went pretty well.
I'm determined to get back down into Singles figures this year, and searching for small advantages wherever I can find them to get there, hitting more fairways, and spending some time on the short game, 50yds & in etc, - in the quest to get there !

My Titleist Tour blade 2 iron looks like some metal dripped off the end of the table then hardened, they stuck a shaft on it as well as a skinny shiny grip and expect you to hit it 230 off a tight lie. Needless to say it sits in the garage and gets picked up and swished about in the garden for a laugh

glad to see its working for you. be more and more beneficial as the weather gets better and courses see some good growth.

keep it up :D

Mine is one of my favourite clubs, brilliant (and essential?) for links golf. Use mine a lot both off the tee and fairway. 175 yards into a stiff breeze on a links course.......Caddie, pass me the 2i please :-)

i think you will find it was Trevino an it was a 1 iron

After he was struck by lightning at the 1975 Western Open, Trevino was asked by a reporter what he would do if he were out on the course and it began to storm again. Trevino answered he would take out his 1 iron and point it to the sky, "because not even God can hit the 1-iron." Trevino said later in an interview with David Feherty that he must have tempted God the week before by staying outside during a lighting delay to entertain the crowds, saying "I deserved to get hit...God can hit a 1-iron".

I love my Mizuno Fli-Hi 2-iron. I keep debating whether to use that or a hybrid!

Cleveland VAS 1 iron is always a nice comedy/shock piece when I take it on tour.

I do have an MP37 2 iron in the bag as a permanent fixture which generally lets me know how I'm hitting the ball. There is no forgiving an off centre hit but there are few better feelings when its on.

I also have a founders club 1 and 2 iron and a copper ping eye 2 2 iron. Things of beauty, very much unlike the Cleveland!
