I have seen one design that was designed to impart side spin.

Certainly the design was such that it would affect the side of the ball that it would be 'cradled in. One side of the tee went up the side of the ball rather than the ball sitting on the tee.

I have used these tees for last few months.....my verdict is they assist teeing up in the cold when my hand shaking as holf ball better.....and they dont break!
