So according to the news this morning the EU are demanding we cough up an extra £1.7 billion as our economy is doing well, while France, Germany and Poland are to get a rebate. Will be interesting to see the reaction to this. Can we tell them to do one? I'm not sure which way to feel over our involvement in Europe but this sort of thing certainly makes me go more 'anti'. So will Cameron have the backbone to stand up to them or get the chequebook out?

Don't know the finer points, but certainly the headlines are music to UKIP. Could look at this way though - EU are taxing the rich and giving to the poor, something most agree with here? :p

FWIW - I'd tell them to F.O or what's in it for us? :D

This has already been discussed on the UKIP thread if you want some more meat on the bones etc

Not looked at it in any great detail, but as far as I understand it, the "demand" is a correction based on a re-assessment of all the EU economies and their contributions over the last few years. The general gist is that this is because we have "underpaid", along with the Netherlands and a few others. Germany, France etc are judged to have overpaid..

It should also be mentioned that the demand/payment has not been ratified yet and gives Cameron a great platform to prove whether he is as good a Statesman/Politician as he thinks he is.. He needs to get ahead of this and put a stop to it before it hands a huge victory to all the Eurosceptics, not just at UKIP HQ, but even more so within his own party..

Interesting few weeks ahead..
