First seniors open of the year at SAOL yesterday. You can tell that there was a pretty stiff breeze as 44 points would usually see you about 10th place 😮 but 41 points was the winning score.

Our boards haven't been updated since about 2018, because they reached the bottom. We have about 30 named comps (ridiculous) and have been discussing how to cull them. It looks like it will be restricted to about 10 comps now inc the ladies. My view is that is should only be the Club...

Usually, a bottle of whisky is left behind the bar by the person making the hole in one. I had insurance when I made mine so bought 3 bottles of various spirits and claimed the cost back.

A few of us had a splurge last week and booked Senior Open comps at Wrexham, Llangollen, Abergele x 2, Maesdu, Conwy x 2 and Aberdovey.

Euros in 2016 only had 0.5% alcohol in stadiums, which may as well have been no alcohol. Difference then was that there were plenty of alternatives away from the grounds to get your fill.

Preferred lies on closely mown areas for last 2 weeks. Tomorrow is our last 18 hole Q comp, we then move to 14 hole non Q comps off the mats.

We always used to base ourselves in PYR. Can't beat a relaxing night in Portside watching the world go by. Back there in March with a group of us for the first time in about 10 years.

I had to pull out due to a bad back and was replaced by our Senior Captain. My mate in the other pair won the comp with 45 points. Have you seen that they have increased the cost pp from £105 to £150 for next year.

First game for a few weeks today due to back problems. Seniors comp was cut back to 9 holes due to the heavy rain and pretty happy with my 21 points in the conditions.

I have played Bay Hill a couple of times but you had to stay there to be able to play (not sure if that still applies). Course was in great condition but not overly taxing from the tees we played from. The bonus though was that Tiger was practicing on the area to the left of the 9th fairway as...

Played in a Seniors BB comp at Hawkstone Park today on the Hawkstone course. There have been massive changes since I last played there with the old clubhouse now derelict and a new extended clubhouse in use. The course was in good condition and all the greens were excellent. We all enjoyed it...

Played in a 4BBB Open at Rhos on Sea today. Course was in excellent condition and greens were superb, best I can remember seeing them. Nothing special score wise with 40 points but it was a very enjoyable knock.

Todays playing conditions for our seniors open at Rhuddlan were a lot calmer than earlier in the week. Couldn't buy a putt from over 5ft but reasonably happy with my 35 points.

Certainly would have been reductions only for both of Mondays comps. I've got an open at Rhuddlan tomorrow so hoping for an easier day.
