I was chatting to my dad, discussing his putting woes over the weekend. Then we did a quick evaluation of the putters that we own between us. He has two - both of which are mine; and I have two - both of which are his.

I haven't used a putter I purchased in about 6 years, so just interested to find out how you got your hands on the putter you're currently using.

I bought one off the cuff and didn't get on with it at all. Had a go on my dads Odyssey white hot 2 ball, liked it, tried a Odyssey Metal X 2 ball, loved it!

I do think there is more than one putter for each person. Some people think there is only one make and model that is the best for them, but with so many on the market, there must be two or three at least which will let you putt your best.

I have struggled over the years with putting and have bought a few Pings and Yes putters in the past. Last year a bunch of us were playing in a Texas Scramble at Moffat Golf Club where a guy was demonstrating Bump Jump Putters. After a quick try I was so impressed I bought one there and then for £45 and it has been in the bag ever since. I reckon it saves me a good few shots a round, so money well spent.

My first proper putter (my 20 year old donnay doesn't count) was bought on ebay for £30 a couple of years back, all I was looking for was a decent brand and 33" shaft. Lovely putter, not looked back, would never blame my putter for a miss.

That said if I had infinite resources I'd probably look about ;)

Interesting those putters... not sure about having BJ on the face of the putter... I'd get all excited before every putt. That's a new sort of anchoring.

Got a couple of Ram Zebra's... One with an insert and one without... Had the original [insert free] Zebra for many years... 'Upgraded' to one with an insert but in truth the original spends much more time in the bag...

Ping derby - given
Ping piper s - purchased
Rossa Monte Carlo - purchased
Rife abuca purchased
Rife cayman brac purchased
Cleveland vp1 purchased

Hopefully the vp1 is the last putter for a while ....... And yes that it my current putter stock

Always bought my own. It is too personal. Funny thing with my current incarnation is that Silvermere had them with £60 off and had two of the same model on the shelf. One just felt better. Nothing rational and both made/missed the same on the putting green but one just didn't have "that feel"

When I bought my clubs I couldn't find a putter that I could get on with in any of the shops. I bought a £6 dunlop jobby from Sports Direct to tie me over for a couple of weeks until I bought a "proper putter".

Still got the damn thing. Am getting on so well with it that I don't want to risk parting with it and now have a putting average of around 30 per round!! (does sound horrible when you hit a long putt with it though:o) And to think I was happy to spend some proper money on a putter!

I had a Ben Sayers kit to start with which had a light mallet putter that rang like a bell with my cheapy dunlop balls. Thinking this was a weak point I tried them all in Direct golf and didn't think any were significantly better. Then I spotted fat-tiger posted that sportsq had yes! madisons http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/showthread.php?34844-Putters-which-one!!!&highlight=madison for £29, did a bit of background reading and thought it would work. I bought one and not long after thought id better join the forum if it was such a font of knowledge. How little did I know:whistle:
I think learning to putt with a proper putter is helping me - still considering a v easy as it was ignored on my christmas list:angry:

I'm waiting for my Odyssey Metal X 2 ball to arrive after trying loads out in various shops. Dispatched today apparently but that's an addition to my stock, all of which I've purchased. One of the best putters I know is HID with a TM Spider that she won (for longest drive) and I know that whatever I buy she'd beat me every time on the green.

Bought my rossa balero off eBay for £30 about 18 months ago and love it, putting is my most consistent part of the game and this club is great.
My mate had a tantrum on the course one evening and threw his putter into the lake and used my old rossa Fontana and I have never had it back
