Your Golf Clubs Membership Renewals - How Much?!

Ours are not done yet - think we go from April so we'll probably find out end of this month...

I think the fees have been frozen for the last 2 years so expecting a rise but also expecting some info on any plans they have regarding the building of a thumping great railway through the course....

Although golf up here is a lot less expensive than down South, we still aren't quite as low as that . In Edinburgh and Glasgow, fees can be almost as bad as some of those down South. I'd say average fees are in the £600-£900 range.

Thats about right for the central belt of Scotland, hasn't been £200 since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

Ours will be about £800 including sgu and bar levy(30), been paying £80/mth direct debit apr - jan so no fees to be paid out as lump sum.

Cheers for that matey. How did you know - have you had your renewal through. Isn't that just going to attract more of the car park golfers we get on a Saturday morning

Nothing through no but it was on the noticeboard on Saturday.

Personally I think you'll get car park members bar levy or not, they'll just treat it as part of the membership when it's so low. I guess they'll just put the bar prices up so those of us that do use the bar make up the difference.

My place is proposed to rise £15 to £593 including SGU and LGA fees, £15 for locker takes total to £608. Still to be passed at the AGM though.

Old club £1300, new club £1100 :whoo:

Just paid today pro-rata.... only cost £230 until May, awesome as it gives me a couple of months to settle in without chipping out the big $'s

James - you could have waited until I had tried Copthorne!:( Where have you joined?

Just found out our subs are up 5% - £3,105! Ouch.

My fees to get a St Andrews links ticket are 380 quid, with this being my first year it will only be 280 as i paid a 100 deposit to get on the list. My club fees for the first year are 372 but next year will only be 124 so 672 for my first year then it will be 504 for 7 courses

Paul, I'd actually be embarrassed to take you to Copthorne compared to Bearwood. Only East Sussex National comes close to your gaff. I joined Ifield in Crawley.. gives me a bit more shoulder room to open up the big dog... but it's a tough par70 apparently, haven't played it yet and obviously it's covered in snow right now

Make sure you pencil me in for a round at yours in the Spring....

bladeplayer: Paul is at Bearwood Lakes golf course...... they have naked female caddies and free beer ;)

Ours haven't been decided yet but last year it was £245 (including a locker) £230 without. It usually goes up £10 per year so I'd expect it to be £255 this year.

Depends on where I end up going. At my current club it is now going to be £635 for a decent 18 hole course. If I move to Belton Park it will be £650 but that is for 18 decent holes, a further 9 shorter holes and the luxury of it being 2 minutes from my front door and £2.50 in a cab if I want a beer.

I have paid £50 to be a member of Belton for a month and get that off my fees if I join as a full member. So, will have to see. If I find regular games over the next few weeks then it could be a change of scenery for me.

You are always welcome James - I am dying to play the new 8,9 and 10 from April - even with course maintenance the first week!
Bladeplayer - It is way too much to pay but while I can just about aford it I will stay. The norm for a member course in the area is 1100-1800. We do get more than most in relation to quality of course and maintenance, continual enhancements - they are spending a fortune at the moment - free driving range and short-game area, always-staffed half-way hut, food from 7am to 9pm (in summer - adjusted for hours), great service in the bar - served at tables etc, Troon benefits, good-quality club matches, a good club atmosphere and banter, somewhere you are proud to bring guests etc. Also, it is 3 miles by car or 1.5 through the woods, and I feel physically less stressed when i drive through the gates as is a lovely setting. I have to try and justify the cost and when I sum it all up, it is a few beers a week extra - I work away in Ireland a lot or in London so don't have much free time and golf is my one stress break a week. Sorry for the whafle but I do realy like the course and club - what I don't like are the fees!!
