Following up Edgey’s post about his putting giving him grief
I have often wondered why we get the yips on short putts when we will probably lose only one stroke if we miss the putt, but will let go with ease on a tee where we can put a ball OOB/ in the water/ in the trees and lose 2 straightaway.
Or has anybody suffered the yips on long shots as well?

Not sure you can get "yips" on long shots can you. Fortunately I'm not expert but isn't an involuntary freezing or spasm and with the longer shots wouldn't momentum take over. Shanks are a different story mind.

I did get a bit yippy with my chips at one stage but I guess that was down to the shortage of the shot and my brain being frazzled with technical thoughts and a fear of another fat or thin

I'm thinking about similar things like Sergio with his nervous regripping of the club last year or so. I went though a similar thing recently and I am just working through it.
I'm sure Bob Rotella could write a chapter on it.

I don't know, but the tee shot on the 4th hole at the Worcestershire gives me the yips. Not a good time for the 20 yard pull with the Wilson Spine.
