Has anyone played the course as got a rail sports comp there Sunday/Monday .
Had a look at its website there seems a lot of water but does it really come into play ?
Bit worried as not played in last 7 weeks so may need a bucket of balls with me .

Nice course, with loooaaadddss of water. Actually, apart from one hole, 17th I think, its not that bad for carries over water.

In excellent nick the last time I was there - hope you enjoy it

Played in once about 3 years ago and really liked it. There are some carries over water and "conservation areas", but I could make them easy enough, and I'm not a big hitter by any means.

Plays like an inland links, with fast running fairways. Great par 3 17th over water.

Only drawback for me was the fairly long hike between greens and tees - it winds around a housing development, kind of like a low-rent Wentworth.

Agree with BramallMac it is a very long winding track with long walks between tees. They have 5 or 6 different tee positions with the back Tiger tees making it a very long course although I think they only use these for pro events.

De Vere have some excellent deals at the moment as we stopped overnight for only £19.95 per double/twin room at the onsight 3*/4* hotel which was very nice (link below)

My uncle lives in one of said houses, "low rent" isn't the word I'd use! :D But I know what you mean.

That's the closest I've come to playing it (thus far), but Jason Dransfield (of this forum) is also a member.

I used to be a member of Wychwood... very very nice course. The only reason I left is the club itself is too
corporate and does not feel like a golf club at all. The club house is just a pub for local residents.

The course is stunning though, can set up very hard if they let the rough grow. I am told these days its kept reasonably short and whispy. It is built on one of the highest points in cheshire and can get very windy.
The description 'Inland links' above is a good one.

The greens are USPGA spec and very good with plenty of undulations so some potentially tricky pin positions.
Its not easy but not impossible, you'll have a great day i'm sure

Apart from a stream that runs right through the middle of the course, the only water to worry about is on 14, 15 and 17 :) and conservation areas that are ob

I played Wychwood last year when i was in the area on business and the course was in fantastic condition, i really enjoyed the course and although water is a big feature if you plot your way around it is not a huge problem.

Signature hole for me was either 18 where you had to drive well and hit past a big oak tree in the middle of the dogleg and then a tricky approach with water all down the right, maybe a burn on the left too cant quite remember, but twoo good hits to the green.

There was also a shortish par three around 180 yards off the tee (cant remember the hole but you had to cross the road to get to it) it was on, all down hill to a small green with a run off into a burn that runs along the front of the green, flag was right at the front and yes i was greedy, hit the green and spun off into the drop off and it got wet.

ashamedly i tried a van de velde out and although i got it out it ran back in, so there i was caked in mud and water playing 4 after i saw sense and dropped, managed the 5 but still walked off with a smile on my face, as did the guys waiting to play behind me.

My advice is go long at that one :D

Although a good 250 miles from me definitely one i would play again given the chance

imho a much better track than the cameron house from the same hotel company which is three times the price to play.
