WOW what a basket!

Mind you if anyone is interested i will be happy to tell you all about my practice putting on the carpet in the lounge. The putt that hit a chair leg, then flicked off my wife's slipper before rolling under the telly is a cracking story.

Not sure i can sex it up that much Bob. :) :)
is it plain or designed carpet tho?? was it freshly hoovered or not ?/ did you play for the flick or was it lucky . was she wearing the slipper or was it just lying there . soooo much you havent told us , my guess it was lucky shot ;) ;)

Blade you a missed a point. Why would anyone take on a power flop shot on a windy day. Its that sort of "have a go hero" shot that could possibly kill a good card.
AH OS they are all mulligans on the range tho mate the card will never know :D .. just count the ones that land where you want , just wonderin coz i have a decent ordinary flop shot in my range of shots havent managed a POWER one tho , any ideas what the difference is .. ?

its one fueled by 3 weetabix.... :D

3 !!! hell that could be dangerous .. but il give it a try mate thanks :o

My money is on Tim.

I'll be his caddy for the day.

Will be very upset if I don't see any big drives out there.

Remember, if it's under 300 meters your doing it wrong.

Thing is, I still think Timgolfy has a point (to an extent).

I could play round my track with a 5i, and shoot a decent score (say 81, so on handicap). But, I'd struggle to score any better than that, where as with the extra length I get with my driver, I can shoot 75 on a good day (and 90 on a bad day, accepted).

In the short term, not using a driver can get you to post a good score, but there will be a time when length is the limiting factor in your progress.

Couldn't agree more Murph.
But as Hawkeye said - what's the point in hitting it that far if you can't score? I'd love 280+ in the middle every time. Chances are I'd be off about 4 or 5 in no time. We have a few longish par 4's and 280 in the middle leaves a straight-forward mid-iron into the green. An "average" drive and I've got a hybrid or long iron in my hand. But if I can put either 2nd shot on the green within puttable distance then the drive becomes irrelevent.

For what it's worth I saw the putt in question, I was there hiding naked behind the curtain, DON'T TELL RICHART!!

The flick off the slipper was definitely a lucky break for me, it was heading for a depression in the carpet where the coffee table had been earlier Had it stopped in the depression I'd never have been able to make my exit whilst he retrieved his Topflite from under the tele! :D

I left a box of MilkTray on the coffee table... I guess he didn't notice

no probs blade, just stay away from the frosted ones as the sugar will have you hitting 400 yard drives with no roll and knocking airbuses out teh sky with ya lob wedge.

To set the record straight it was a very small box of MilkTray, left by a real cheap skate. I realise now i must have misheard the wife when i thought she said she was trying to get rid of a small ruck in the curtains whilst i was putting.

I think there is definitely a movie to be had out of the events, and the wife thinks i should be played by Richard Gere ( a bit old i know), and James's small part to be played by Danny DeVito. :D

Definitions..
Flop shot - controlled golf swing where the ball rises sharply and lands softly next to target.
Power Flop shot - swing very very hard and thin 270 yards over a wall at 220 with ease. :D
