Vans like the picture are like or used to be a few years ago essential footwear alongside some chinos. Not go wrong with that classic combination.
I used to skate and I wouldn’t of skated in them. Needed chunkier ones than that with more robust material.
Those I’d of ripped through them in two days.

Had to look it up - Tony Alva, skateboard legend and Vans ambassador, is 64 years old.

I use Vans on my mountain bike mostly because they're grippy, tough, comfy and not too pricey.

I skated until I was 40, but never owned a pair of Vans. They were boat shoes when the Z Boys skate team were made to adopt them by their manager as part of their uniform in the 70s. They were considered extremely unfashionable and useless amongst skaters until recently. My current shoes are DCs.

Very comfy I must say.
