Not the worst course but the worst value for money.

I'll start the ball rolling by nominating the West course at Wentworth. I was lucky enough to play it on a freebie but if I had forked out the £370 green fee I would not have been amused.

What is the worst value you have played?

I know I am not the West Course's biggest fan so some might consider my opinion biased but I would have to agree with you.

Like you I have always been fortunate enough to play there on a corporate freebie but, again like you, I have winced whenever I have thought of the cost to my hosts.

A good (but not great) course in great condition but must be the worst VFM in the country.

I've never paid a huge amount to play anywhere, I've played some quality courses on freebie's though!

Back in the 90's I played a Club match at Mill Ride.
Didn't cost anything but I think if it had it would be the one.
I can't recall how much it was to play but there were only a couple of holes that stuck in the memory and the members didn't seem overly friendly.
Having said that, I don't think it would have been poor value, just not the best.

Worst course i have played in recent years has to be Taunton Vale , was at a works get together golf day , nothing more to say

Wentworth isn't great value for money but haven't played many thinking the value is poor

I think the Brabazon is a great course but I wouldn't want to pay £180 to play it... Luckily I've played it around 7 times for the grand total sum of £40 :D

Saying that though you can get on there for £60-£100 at the right time.

I wouldn't say it's a great course. Some good holes but a few average ones as well which I guess is why it's appearance in top 100 lists always seems contentious to some. To me, £60-£100 is about right for it and definitely not worth £180

It's not worth £100 , wouldn't pay that much for it when have paid for better course for less and certainly would never pay £180 for it.

Would you consider The Royal Ascot as a great course? Just wondering what you are comparing it too?

I wouldn't pay more than £40 for it in the height of summer but then again the most ive ever payed for a round of golf was £30 on the Hotchkin.

It's Royal Ascot and no. We're just a run of the mill club like the majority. I'm comparing it to the likes of other clubs like Bearwood Lakes, Coombe Hill, Hindhead and Wentworth East that I've played and which in my own opinion are better value with more enjoyable courses

Ohhh sorry I accidentally put (The) before Royal Ascot... How many times have the courses you speak of held the Ryder Cup? Must of been something about the Brab to allow it to host more than anywhere else in the world.

yep, its the PGAs home and they paid nicely for the privilege.

I think when people say £300 for wentworth west and other well known courses is a joke they're looking at it the wrong way, you paying for the name not the golf. Its no different from buying a bottle of stella in weatherspoons fir £2 or £7 in a funky london lounge

Holding the Ryder Cup doesn't make it a great course.

And they paid a high price to hold the cup - just as all the courses do.

Yeah - money!!!
I think the brabazon was a great venue for the ryder cup back in its day but with other better courses appearing on the map i think its lost its shine. i was speaking to simon Dyson about a year ago and he said "its a great course but way too short for today's golf "

At the same time Phil the Brab is a great course with some great holes, I suppose it depends on what your into. I like well manicured american style courses apposed to rough round the edges heathland courses.

Not too short for anyone on this forum though...
