Just seen that Tiger has been invited to play in the US Open
Love it.
He will only accept the invitation if he thinks he had a chance of winning. Will be interesting to see if he is fit for 4 rounds. A 16th major for me would put the Nicklaus beyond any further discussion even for those who dont already recognise Cat as the goat.
Quite the logical fallacy.None of us saw Young Tom Morris, the Great Triumvirate, Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan, so we don’t know about the ‘of all time' bit
Quite the logical fallacy.
None of us have seen Pluto, so we dont know if it exists...
Surely nobody is surprised at this? Get used to him turning up at majors as and when he pleases as I expect that to be the case for a long, long time.
We have been saying this for a while yet still he turns up every so often, hobbles, sweats, pulls out, maybe finishes. I'm not sure fully fit is ever going to happen again for him but he is in the territory now of the boxer going on too long, doing himself harm. It's not good to see.I hope Woods stays well away if he isn't fully fit. No point in him doing himself an injury.
There was no such thing as The Masters Tournament in Hagen's day. So removing Masters wins makes the Top Major WinnersI guess Woods is only 20% behind Jack so must be better!

Woods will never win another Major
None of us saw Young Tom Morris, the Great Triumvirate, Bobby Jones and Ben Hogan, so we don’t know about the ‘of all time’ bit….but I’d go with Jack Nicklaus over Woods, both as a player and as a gentleman
Good luck with that. It's another ceremonial appearance to which he is perfectly entitled.
But that's all it is, and let's hope it doesn't overshadow the build up to the tournament
Tiger’s wins, and the celebration / marketability of Tiger by golf companies and golf media, brought unprecedented money to the game of golf for sure and drove revenue from sponsors and media interest
But I am interested to know / discuss what precisely did he do to ‘change the game’? Aside from lengthening certain courses (not especially a good thing)..
Why do sports fans actually care how many millions sponsors have paid for rights to PGA Tour events / how much money the fifth place golfer earns from an event?
The game was booming enough in the 90s in this country at a club and participatory level wasn’t it? And the competitiveness from Seve, Faldo, Norman, Langer, Woosie and Nick Price meant that golf TV viewers had a decent field of excellent players..
‘Tiger changed the game’ is used as a truism as much as ‘the sky is blue’ but I am curious what exactly was changed and how this is a good thing to average golfers and the TV golf audience
