Woods to miss rest of golf season

Disappointed that he won't be at The Open, as it does devalue the competition a tad. Not quite as disappointed as the thousands of kids that have been promised to be taken to see him though.
Nothing will dampen my desire to watch The Open though Birdieman. I'll still have that buzz when I sit down at 9am on the Thursday morning to watch 12hrs of uninterrupted coverage. With Peter Alliss jabbering on about some guy in a boat eating a cone or a baby sleeping in a go-chair. Best Thursday of the year without doubt.
The only difference I think it will make to the Ryder Cup is that we won't beat them quite as badly as we would have otherwise.

I don't think any victory in any major can be described as hollow. It is all about beating the guys in front of you on the day. To be fair Tiger can be a little hit and miss with the open and so it is not a done deal that if he had turned up he'd have won.

Also, if you cast your minds back to open winners like Ben Curtis or Todd Campbell etc who were playing against the best golfers of the day I'm sure they wouldn't consider their achievements hollow

I bet it has come as a bit of a blow to all those who backed Tiger to win two or more majors. I for one know two or three people who definitely did and this will make the bets invalid. I can't see the bookies returning their stake money!

I know Woods is pleased with his win, but you can't help but feel that getting his knee more sorted before really screwing it up in the US open would have been a good idea. He says he doesn't take doctors advice very well. This makes him an idiot.
