Woods. Contender or making up the numbers

Good interview with Sky. Actually gave more than bog standard answers to the usual questions. Majors are always better when Tiger is in contention, so hope he has a good round tomorrow.

Not sure I'm convinced and don't think he'll make the cut purely because I'm not sure his driving is still on form. Very happy for him to prove me wrong and be in with a shout come the back nine on Sunday but can't see it

I think he is there as an irrelevant sideshow at the request of the TV companies and his last remaining sponsors.

I'll be quite happy to be proved incorrect but we heard all this "I feel good, the game's in good shape" stuff earlier in the year and that resulted in an indefinite break after a MC and a WD.
I think he's making up numbers and will miss the cut.

What's with the exclamation mark? It wasn't a statement it was a question, hence the question mark!!

"He hasn't got anything to prove" You sure about that?

It'll be him and Rory in the final group on Sunday. Or Tiger will miss the cut. Nothing inbetween!

I got him at 45/1 as well. Worth a punt, as you say - he definitely knows how to win round Augusta if he has sorted his game out.

On the other hand, HID has a wee double for both Tiger and Rory to miss the cut, cos Tiger's lost it and Rory looks nervous, apparently.

:D

Slightly off topic (sorry!) but one person who will be delighted he is playing is Rory. So much attention taken away from him in the build up, and another story on the course for the media to sink their teeth into for the first couple of days is surely a good thing for him.

I've had a small wager on him to miss the cut at evens, but it would be great to see him competing down the stretch. If WD or comfortable MC, I think it may be the last we see of him sadly.

There's a big difference between hitting wedges on the par3 course when it doesnt matter and trying to outdrive Bubba when it does.
He looked very protective of his back as he walked around yesterday.

And because of that, I think he still has back issues and if he tries to rip every drive, he will retire injured half way through the 2nd round.

Hope he misses the cut,not missed the cursing and slamming of clubs into the ground one bit.

:whoo:

I'd love to see him rip it up today.
Go Tiger, get in the mix

Would be entertaining. Speith seeing Tiger charging up to say 8 under might have an effect on him and anything worse than level par, game on, for tiger, rose, hoffman etc. That would make for a great Sunday.

He has surprised me with the quality of his golf.

And isn't it lovely to see him smile his way around the course with that delightful, sunny disposition he has?

Great coverage of him on tv last night too. I particularly enjoyed watching him in conversation with an advisor with no sound on the practice range for ten minutes. Riveting television. Insightful.

On another note, I think Pual Azinger has added something to the coverage. Clearly a bright and highly articulate bloke. Shame we still have to listen to Andrew Cotter though. Useless.
