Golfing partner falls apart on the 1st

I've played about 4 rounds with the guy. Each round getting worse. I think he believes he should be getitng better each round, but does no practice in betwee, Doesn't like the driving range because he duffs the mat before the ball. I keep telling him to get lessons but just closes up when I mention it.

My missus just thinks it's no really acceptable. His good lady says he's always like that. Such a perfectionist and goes mental if something goes wrong. Unfortunately golf rarely lets you away with course rage. It has a funny way of getting you back.

I think I'll just be letting this one slip and let him play his fave 9 hole municipal course.

I agree. Golf is so much harder if you fall apart on the first. He just doesn't put the work in but feels he should be hitting the same as me because we started playing together. It's taken me a few rounds to get into a groove again and coupled with lessons I've leaped on. I just put a lot more work in. I go to the range 3 times a week and buy 150 balls. I pitch 50 of those with my PW before I lift the driver.

I then hit 10 with a 9, 10 with a 7 and so on, going up two clubs. He just starts with a 3 wood, duffs 20 balls then starts chipping into the nets and complains about how he hit a peach of a draw 240 yards once, and wonder why he can't do it again.

Practice your weakness, not your strengths.

Playing the wrong game if he goes mental when things go wrong!

If it was a bounce game one of us would be gone in at the 9th , if we both lasted that long

Maybe its just me but id be telling him to cop on in a way he knew what i meant , i dont tolerate fools

I did say on the 10th that if he wanted to go there was the path to the car park. If not it's a long walk uphill to the 11th and you're on the upper tier of the course until the 16th. He marched on. Still annoying me now today to be honest.

Id have went back and played the front 9 or some of it again

In saying that its ok for me to have this attitude as he is not my mate and i wasn't there ha

I would have probably got round quicker on my own had I went back to the 1st. 4 practice swings on every shot tends to ruin a mans time.

Think I'd have told him to go home or I will. That would be the end of it for me.

Language please

....At one point he duffed a PW plugging the ball into the ground where it lay. He then proceeds to drive his PW into the ground like an axe, with only half of the shaft above the ground......

Is it wrong that I think this is hilarious and wish I'd seen it!? Sounds a bit like he has some issues, maybe thought the golf would help but made it worse & he took it out on the course. Suspect your missus('s?) friend is getting dumped soon or driven into the back yard up to her waist!

Yh I had the same today he really annoyed me. One the 9th he wanted to use a 9 iron, I said , Scott, use the 6 but no he was having none of it and teed of with the 9. I was fuming. I threw my wedge into the bunker like a javelin and said get a life your a horrible little man. Let me know if you want to hook up, have a sensible round golf

With all the other calls on our time, work/family etc, our time for golf is limited. To have someone spoil it like that... I'd be saying something like either shape up or do one.

He threw 4 balls into a pond and then later spent 10 minutes looking for one he lost!!

I find the best way to get over bad shots is to just laugh at myself.
