Wonder if McGinley is regreting his Ryder Cup picks?

Youre right Westwood played pretty poorly over the last couple of years but that experience he has on and off the course is hugely important to the team. Players really respect and like him, he's a solid fun guy and no doubt will be a massive support to McGinley. I'm also sure Gallagher got the nod over Luke purely on the fact he is Scot and the crowd will get totally behind him. Its a very good "team" call by mcGinley IMO.

Don't have any issue with Stevie Gallacher's selection, after all he only just missed out on an automatic pick, and it is to be hoped that, as previously, Poulter will be energised by the Ryder Cup.

Westwood might have been a decent shout as a Vice-Captain with either Luitten or Molinari replacing him as a player.

That said I will be delighted if Lee proves me wrong and has a good Ryder Cup.

I would imagine with his tee to green game he would nearly guarantee points in the foresomes and would be good to be along side in the 4balls ,, (someone will probably pop up stats to prove me wrong now ha)

Certainly his record in Foursomes & Fourballs (14 wins, 6 losses & 6 halved) compares favourably with his Singles record (2 wins & 5 losses).

Going by todays performances things will be fine. Westwood and Gallacher have played better today, Gallcher plays the course well at Gleneagles so I'm not too worried about him now, Westwood just needs to relax a bit and not try to hard. They'll have a couple of days to get their act together before it all kicks off, so I'm still thinking it'll be a European win, but only just ;)

Maybe a little embarrassing but they'll have their minds elsewhere - or at least part of it!

Judge them after the Cup - Westy was playing garbage before the last 2 RC's......

Injured before one wasn't he ? 2010 ?

Westwood hasn't been too bad in recent weeks - good USPga

His chipping at the moment is truly poor. He's missing the cut if he does not buck up. Might be a good thing.

I think Westwood will be a good team player in the 4BBB and foursomes as he is a solid driver. In the better ball format, I can see him playing the lynchpin role and letting his partner be far more attacking although his short game and putting would still be concern for me
