Women in men's competitions.

Depends on where the tee boxes are placed. At our course the ladie's tees are almost always directly in line with the men's tees. So it is customary to always wait till the men have hit their tee shot before we proceed to the ladie's tees. I know a few courses that have slightly more elegant solutions for this (like having a protective wall or fence at the ladie's tee to take cover while the guys tee off) or that place the ladie's tees further to the side (which I don't like too much, because that really alters the course setup and often takes hazards and bunkers out of play for the ladies).

Good god no. You'll have even more up in arms. Women being allowed to play golf can't make it any quicker;)
 
theres about 800 yards difference and 2 shot between the mens and ladies tee at Nairn so i doubt many would be rushing to play from the mens tee.

Ladies section run comps on a Sunday and have a couple of opens on a Saturday and the course is closed to men on those days.

there are no days ladies are not permitted to play so prob get a better deal than most

There is no need to have 2 handicaps, if clubs get SSS assessments for both genders for all tee's.

Every single one of our medals and Stableford is open to both men and ladies and it's all one result. They play of their tees and they get a shot weight depending on if it's medal or Stableford.

Sounds like the way it should be.

Surprised all clubs are not set up like this.
 
I'm totally fine with it.

Handicaps are calculated relative to their gender and ability; Whilst the same hole, par 4 mens and par 4 ladies may differ in length their handicap ability is reflected in their ability to make a 4 or otherwise. Moving the Women back 80 yards (or whatever) penalises the ladies.

If Women were dominating the course on a Sunday and opened their comp to men would we all insist everyone played off the ladies tee? This would unduly favour the men.
 
Our monthly medals are the last weekend of every month, so both Saturday and Sunday and are open to all adult 7 day members. We have a few adult male only board comps, just as the ladies have their own.
Any comp where both male and females can enter its always off their own relevent tee of the day.

In Medal it's simply an adjustment of handicap due to any difference in SSS. For Stableford the relationship between Par and SSS comes into the equation.

Most of our club comps are open to both , our 16th is a par 4 for men and par 5 for women plus the way the SSS is set up i think they get 2 extra point on what they score , some congu rule or other , doesnt bother me but the extra 2pts does bother some members
 
The women don't want to play in the mens events but in interests of parity, the men have booked tee times usually 8.00-10.30 and then there's a gap to let social play and the women then get their own booked times usually an hour (based on their numbers - their midweek events tend to be more popular). We do have some club events that are played as mixed and the women play of their own tees
 
Nothing against this as long as they play from the same tees as it has to be the same playing conditions regardless for all. I think many women would struggle from some competition tees but that's just the way it is unfortunately.

Why the same tees ?

Ladies gain their HC from a specific tee so why can't they use that one ?
