"Woman" wins cycling gold

But that has nothing to do with the OP - she is just a good swimmer/cyclist - the only thing that gives her an advantage is natural ability - she does have a disability there is no “if”.

Hmmm...you're starting to sound like I'm making an issue about her disability. Her disability has next to no impact on her cycling, that is where she has a huge advantage over other competitors, regardless of her ability.

She has one hand for goodness sake - she can’t grip the handbars without assistance - it’s pure ignorance to suggest her disability doesn’t affect her cycling or indeed swimming,

She nearly made the main Olympics squad but missed out ( because she wasn’t quick enough ) , she isn’t unbeatable at cycling but she is massively talented and been amazing despite her disability- you appear to be trying to put her in the same category as the lady/man in the OP.

You either haven’t done your research very well or just trying to be controversial

The only advantage she has is her talent - plain and simple

In any case, they have different classes of disability for all disabled sport.

If you really want to compare the OP here with your arguement then you would also need different classes of females in sport: biological, chemical,pre-op.post op. pretend (still got a penis hanging) and not sure yet.

I think it's just ridiculous .............................. so much so that I'm now going to post on another thread!!

A year later, she's at it again.

I honestly think it's common sense out of the window. Surely any half decent scientist can explain how muscle density, muscle memory, even height don't change just because you take testosterone suppressants. It's been a whole year now and they've still not looked into it to prove one way or the other? Obviously terrified of offending people.

The highlighted is the only reason in today's society where being offended is a card that trumps everything.

Offended? Then I guess you must be right.

It's utterly ridiculous.

The downside of this is that if left to continue, then young girls may be put of high end sport.
I mean why bother when some mediocre male athlete suddenly decides to self identify as a woman and then clears up on the medal table.

Not just athletics either, wait till it happens in all the other sports where there's loads of money. I feel sorry for up and coming female athletes, they struggle to get the recognition and money they've worked very hard for and now this.

Is it too far fetched to wonder what might happen in countries where human rights come way behind how "successful" the country is on a world stage? Could good male athletes be "persuaded" to have gender reassignment in order to be world beaters as a female?

I used to read a lot from Ross Tucker on twitter and followed his youtube channel (4 minute mull). Of course everything he does get commented on by the people that are offended for others, and every time he talked about Semenya he was called a racist, ...

I've been predicting this sort of thing for years, it will only happen more and more.
Not long before it happens in tennis, golf and athletics. So unfair on the genuine female competitors imo.
There should be a separate section for transgender competitors, that's the only way to make it fair.
I remember the Renee Richards kerfuffle - over 40 years ago!

I'm sorry if I offend but IMO this is crazy and yet another example or the world going to hell in a handcart. A person is either male or female; genetically. Taking drugs or using surgery to modify one's gender is the human right of anyone that I would defend. However, 'pretending' to be one or other for the purposes of competing in a sex divided sport is effective the same as taking drugs to adjust performance.

In the chase for 'equality' we seem to have lost sight of common sense and the need to simply respect each other. Many of the pressure groups actually distort the individual's rights by parading the PC card at every opportunity which actually leads to more division, segregation and the loss of rights by the majority in favour of the minority. Social medium has become the vehicle where natural justice and 'innocent until proven guilty' is replaced by public humiliation and mob rule.

I agree. I have always understood, as a matter of science, that a person's cells are either male or female. These do not ever change.
If that is so, then depending on what a persons cells say , a person is either male or female, regardless of how they wish to identify themselves, or behave as one sex or the other.
So, IMO sports authorities need only decide the sex of their entrants by the definition of the entrant's cells. They can be verified as one or the other, by scientific examination.
And thus their entry will be accepted as such.
Male cell persons would not be accepted in female only events.
And vice Verda.End of.

just as a thought experiment, what's the lowest ranking male that would be able to win regularly on the womens golf tour?

Remember Bobby Riggs v Billy-Jean King match?

FWIW, Serena Williams's power game has elevated the Women's game significantly - certainly from the tedious battles of attrition of yesteryear (many of whom are now commentators!). The new female stars are 'power players' - at least insofar as their height allows!

But they'd all likely lose the majority of matches against any male in the top 100 - no different to what it was when that 'Battle of the Sexes' took place in the '70s!

I would say any tour pro would have a chance of winning on woman’s tour.
Shorter course. Would bring in the average hitters in the men’s tour up with the longest in the woman’s.
It’s been tried with the women in the men’s tour ,but has it been tried in the woman’s.
Imagine the best male playing in a female tournament.
