Woes of the municipal course

I grew up on muni's and made it my aim to play some of the best. But, they can be well dodgy!!
I went round the first time in 102.....my dad thought i was a genius until I mentioned it was a 9 hole.

Every week I'd turn up, put a ball in the tube (DDH concrete special), get on the tee and slice it majestically into the tress on the right with groans of "oh s***" from around the tee.

I went back to the start of it all 5 or 6 years later, pulled out my driver and drove the opening par 4.....surprisingly the groans had only changed ever so slightly to "holy s***".

I wouldn't go back.........there are some great courses though......Pype Hayes (B'ham) sticks in the mind as does Batchwood St. Albans......such fun!!!

Heaton Park, Manchester. Fantastic Muni. Apart from the bunkers. Greens are in good nick and so are the fairways. Well done to them. One of my favourites.

I play Roundhay municipal which is a great course minus the state of the greens and the elitists and there robot 10 years old grandchildren who play well but take it far to seriously and are set to stride with the old golfing elitism.
