With unlimited funds What uk club would you join

I understand Wentworth and Woburn - 3 top quality courses at both; I have met a few Wentworth members who are golfers and they play the Edinburgh and the East a lot.
So, as it's local I would plump for Wentworth

No-one has suggested it yet so I will, slightly compromising my 3 course rule, and plump for the triumvirate (?) of West Hill, Woking and Worplesdon - that's pushing the rule a bit, but it would be lovely.

The Berkshire (2 courses and local), and I'd join Bearwood Lakes so that I could walk to the course for a knock around or use the range.
Staunton (2 courses) as my Away club
No limit on travel ... St Andrews (5? Courses)

Obviously I like to get my money's worth!

I'd probably join somewhere like Otley, Bradford GC or Hollins Hall. Hollins Hall mainly due to it being open the majority of the year and it draining really well, plus the halfway house is very good.

If I was staying living down here it would be either Queenwood, Sunningdale or The Wisley. In no particular order, I'm not picky.

If I was moving but up t'north (which I probably would with unlimited money), it would be probably Formby, Birkdale or Lytham. Lytham probably last choice, as despite being closest to my parents, it doesn't have the views of the others and growing up playing it a few times it's lost a little of the mystique.

If funds are truly unlimited then I would buy Loch Lomond for me and my mates to play on and all you peasants can GET OFF MY LAAAND!!!!

Seriously though, I would prob join Loch Lomond, it's nowhere near me but it's just fantastic.

Short term Id go and join Brocket Hall, 2 cracking courses, excellent practise facilities and I'd be able to play with my Dad a few times a week (the clinching factor)! Not sure I get the love for Woburn based on "unlimited funds" even though its on my doorstep, I guess Sunningdale or the Berkshire, with a bolt hole and Links membership somewhere too :)

Swinley Forest
St Georges Hill
The Berkshire
Sundingdale
The NZ club

Id offer my services to any of those beuts! ;)

Wentworth is not a good members club imo. Very corporate over priced. Good choice of 3 courses however.

I played there Sunday just gone JO and it's a great complex and a very mint course but something was missing for me to fall in love with it as I thought I would. I played the west course and it was only £35 :)

Level par would have built some love :D

The West is actually a bit harder than the East, and just a tad more 'quirky', it's actually a clever design with some 'easy' holes that are still tricky (4th over the hill, 15th is short, 16th looks easy peasy until you make a triple bogie there)

Did you play off the blues or the white 'visitor' tees?

(Wherever I'd join would HAVE to have 2 courses... that's a minimum requirement)

In terms of the course offering and clubbiness, Sunningdale has got to be pretty high on the list. Wentworth seems to have rather a lot of corporate golf and city boys in Porsches around, although I like the West and Edinburgh courses (never played the East).

Queenwood would not be my cup of tea. I hear the course is good although not brilliant, often empty and the course owner is a [redacted].

Of the courses I've played either Turnberry, Woodhall Spa or West Hill, but with unlimited funds I doubt I'd be in the country too often probably just for family birthdays.... actually I'd probably just fly them out to whichever exotic destination I'd decided to call home!

Based on where I live, I would go for the London Cub. 2 great courses, always in top nick, excellent practise areas and a very good grass range. Although the clubhouse is a bit corperate, I like the feel of the main bar and the fact that phone use is ok and the dress code is pretty relaxed, so they are not too far up themselves.
Also, they keep one of the courses pretty well protected from societies/guests, so you would rarely struggle to play a round. That is the issue with some of these big courses I reckon, despite the members paying a load they will still get loads of big corperate societes who are willing to pay over the odds for the course at anyone time.
The staff always seem very warm and friendly and their is never feel of the place being 'empty' like I have experienced at places like Chart Hills, The Grove, Dale Hill etc (which are all courses I like), but there is something about the London that gives it the edge.

LEvel par and it would of been the best course in the world ;)
We played off the whites and I managed to save par on the 16th, that hole just don't seem to fit in with the rest of the course it's like they said 'oh no we only have 17 holes, don't worry we can use this tee box for the extra hole' lol 90yards mmmmm

Based on where I live, I would go for The Centurion, and then play at The Grove once or twice a week. Seeing as I would also have a holiday retreat in North Devon, I will also become a country member at Saunton.

But the likes of Sunningdale, Queenwood, the Wisley, Walton Heath, West Hill, St Georges Hill would also be tempting!

I know its all hypothetical and only a bit of fun,but The annoying thing is that even with Unlimited funds, most people wouldnt even get an interview at a lot of the clubs being mentioned in this thread, never mind actual membership. Me (definately) included!!

I wouldn't have thought becoming a member at any we have mentioned would be an issue if you have the money. I don't know how exclusive queenwood is but all the rest would take your money off you no problems at all. Well maybe anyone but you :ears:
