With unlimited funds What uk club would you join

Close to home would be Glasgow GC with Gailes and Killermount to choose from. [Turnberry is closer but too resorty and the club is treated badly]
Away would have to be Sunningdale.

Both good 'members' clubs.
your having a giraffe right? it's unlimited funds and you would choose a stale foosty club with seriously frosty attitudes and a poor inland course to boot

Sunningdale and Woburn (unlimited funds) for me, agree about Wentworth, not that special at all, quite clinical in fact imo

Locally, Slaley Hall I guess.
UK, I love the area around Loch Lomond so I'd have to pick that.
Maybe Sawgrass for my US jaunts (money is no object yeah?) and one of those Disney ones so I can bugger off into the the theme park if I'm playing badly :D

If I was talking locally then I am pretty limited for choice of top courses in Lincolnshire so it would have to be Woodhall Spa.

Spreading the net a bit wider it would have to be Sunningdale as my father in law lives there so I would at least have a place to stay locally as well.

Locally, the London for its courses and practice facilities.

A little further out, RCP,Deal, as theres no chance of getting into RSG.

Don't know, but it wouldn't be in Great Britain.

Probably all the courses in Barbados. Played the "municipal" one there once and even that was good.

If money really was endless I'd go for either Queenwood, because it's so stupidly expensive the place is probably empty most of the time, or Swinley Forest .................... one of my favourite courses of all time, I mean, it's just so quaint & old fashioned.

Slime.

West Hill. I just loved it. It was a good test but still very fair.
I would go for West Hill as well, in fact ...........

Sunningdale would be nice, great courses, but not sure about the Club side. Same reason I would not join Hankley, Swinley or Liphook. Wouldn't even consider Wentworth.

Any 'club' that boasts a girlie on the reception desk to deal with my booking is out, it has to be a 'club' where I see the pro and he knows my name, where I can go to the bar after and tell a few lies about my game, where other members chat to you and enquire if you have a game sorted and if not would you like to join them. Large scale 'corporate' clubs are not for me however good the course might be.

Richard, I know a couple of Sunningdale members and they say it is a proper club with a real members feel. Ditto Hankley - I know two members well and am always made to feel very welcome. People often say that West Sussex is too stuffy and unwelcoming but it simply isn't true. I know loads of people there and it is a wonderful club. I think it is difficult to get a genuine feel for a place without 3+ visits.

The only issue with being a Sunningdale member might be that it gets pretty busy. I am now theoretically considering a switch to Swinley as I love it. Or St Georges Hill? It has the rackets club there and the houses are nice although I wouldn't want Russian Mafia neighbours!

Decisions, decisions!
