winter tees-reversal of roles

Hope everyone is well.
today for the 1st time our winter tees were in use, much to the dismay of some of our male members.

For some there can be no more jokes about how far forward the womens tees are, for others they were alittle disgruntled.
In years past the Ladies tees have become the men's winter tees and we have been brought forward onto temporary tees.

This year the men's winter tees are infront of the ladies tees.

Do others play off winter tees and would it bother you playing forward of the ladies tees?

At least winter tees are better than playing on temporary greens :)
 
Normally at my course the winter tee's are roughly in the same place as the normal tee's but they are just to the side and off winter mat's that are normally a pain in the arse to try get a tee into. Although there is one short par 3 where the winter tee was really far forward last year and the winter green was moved closer and it made the hole only about 80 yards but actually made it harder than when it plays 130 yards off normall tee's and greens.
 
The Winter tees at my course vary in position by hole. Some are almost in their original position, while others are a combined men and womens tee near to the womens original tee.

I'd have to say it doesn't bother me at all, but then where the tees are combined on my course the holes play just as hard from either tee position as far as I'm concerned!!
 
Bit of a mish-mash at our place at the moment as the summer tee's are being levelled and re-turfed, so most of the holes everyone is playing off the same tee box.

Last winter there were several holes at which the mens tee was forward of the ladies, but I don't remember anyone commenting either way.

It's really only the par 5's and the two longest par 4's were there is a significant difference in the summer.
 
Our winter tees are mats about 10-20 yards in front of the mens summer tees and just in front of the womens, but everyone plays of the mats in the winter.
 
Boo B****y Hoo! You can take from this that we have been on winter tees and winter greens for the last 3 weeks and we probably won't see greens or tee's until next March :mad:.

Our course becomes so short you wouldn't believe it! 1st is a Par 5, now a drive and 40yd pitch. 4th is 570yd par 5 and I hit a wedge in, leaving a 4ft for an eagle putt. 7th is 382yd par 4 and I can knock a 3 wood on to it, you get the idea.

The only good thing about it is your pitching gets better for the start of the next season. I'll normally play a few away games over the winter, just to try and keep my whole game in shape.

We stay on the normal tees all year. The only concession to winter is a mat on each of the par 3 tees. Winter greens have been cut but hopefully we wont need them.
 
We have full greens and winter tees which are not only forward but mostly smack bang in the middle of the "line" of the hole, negating (or reducing) the need for draws and fades.
Suits me. I love it. :)
 
We used to go to a winter card with no par 5s. I liked this. This year, no, we are staying on the summer card, but still pushing the tees forwards. This is the worst of all worlds. I played a greensomes knock out today, gave 4 shots, and SI 1 was 354 yards. How can I give a shot away when the hole is driver wedge?
 
No winter greens. Comp tee's have moved onto the yellows. Soon as the frost hits, its playing off fairway mats. Course cut from 18 holes to fourteen to save the last four holes that are on quite a large hill (although you can still play them)

That would please Smiffy then. The number of times he hasn't reached the ladies tee with his first shot, has had to find it and get it out, and found that it's made no difference to his swing for the second shot ..........

The only difference we have is that the white tees are taken in from October to March so comps are off the yellows.

We have a 3 club comp next week off the ladies tees. I've never taken much notice of where they were before but I've looked at the yardages to decide what clubs to take, and all the par 4's will be driver and gap wedge at most.

If we were at or past the ladies tees through winter I would join somewhere else.

We just play off the yellows instead of the whites. Only one hole makes much diffence. In the summer the only time the yellows are used is for Societies. ;)

Played Saunton this week, and our first round on the West we played off the yellows, and a lot of them were in front of the ladies. Only when we got back in did we realise we could have played the whites, as their comp' tees are blues :D It blew a gale so probably not a bad choice. ;) Played East the following day off the whites but fortunately it was still and sunny, and just about the most perfect days golf i have ever had. What a course, and in incredible condition.
 
Richart I played Saunton courses years back and I am thinking of a wee trip back there next October. What was the course like condition wise,any tining done and are they as superb as they all say as I cannot really remember my rounds as it must be 20 years ago!
