Winter League comp and Eceliectic comps

Our club decided to change the winter league comp from members competing either Friday Sat, Sun and the following Tuesday , to just competing on a Sunday ,therefore eliminating 5 day member's Saturday morning players and Tuesday entries, on the grounds that the playing condition can change drastically from day to day therefore making it unfair.
I can understand that, if they move from normal greens to winter greens, then that's unfair, so resolve that by cancelling the comp for that weekend, as we only count a certain percentage for the overall result, guess what ?the committee are always moaning about the lack of entries to comps therefore lack of funds....and, yes,most of the committee play on a Sunday....
We also have 2 Eclectic comps, both played for on a Sunday too, are these comps a dinosaur from the past as most of the members don't understand them...any comments would be appreciated if you have experienced the same...

Personally can't see how any competition can run on separate days as weather can fluctuate completely. Possibility of different pin positions as well. All of our comps are on one day, which is typically a sunday...and the only real exception is the mid-week medal during the summer which is on a Wednesday.

Our midweek medals and stablefords are monday to friday, open format sign in the shop before you play. Despite all the issues everyone seems to think there should be they run smoothly, part of the draw is whether you get the best or worst of the weather but it means a lot more people play our midweek comps than fixing it to a tuesday afternoon for eg and minimising the number of entrants.

And many times I know the winner to have come from the wind and rain on a friday despite others playing in calm sunny conditions earlier in the week! Its only a bit of fun, people get too worried about everyone having exactly the same conditions

If the European tour and PGA can play tournaments spread over several courses over the first few days I really struggle to see the issue with running a fun amateur comp over a few days

They are played as individual comp the winner getting 15 points down to 1 point for the 15th placed man, only the best 75% of each individuals scores count and the man with the most points at the end of the comp is the winner.

then I can see the issue and would agree that such 3, 4 or 5 alternate days over the winter are going to throw up significant variations (summer will though up variation but not usually to the same degree ie can but less likely!)

that's generally why knock out matches in leagues work better
