Had the good fortune to win the 1/4 finals of our 4bbb winter knockout this morning, puts me through to the semis of both the pairs and the singles :) Anyone else still in their winter knockouts?

Homer and I went out with a whimper in round two, we didn't turn up and got our arses right royally kicked.

Well thats both semi finals now successfully negotiated :) Bring on the finals.

Managed to win 3&2 in the pairs last week and in my singles this week found myself 2 down through 6 holes. Got back to all square at the turn and managed to halve 3 shot holes in the next 5. All square coiming off 14 I won 15 and 16 and closed the match out on 17, golf was solid but not spectacular, ideal in matchplay really

Hardly winter anymore but finally played my singles final this morning (had some time concession due to injury!).

Played a very competent 18 handicapper and had to give him 11 shots which looked ominous as he birdied the SI 11 par 5 1st lol. Parred 2 for a win then lost 3 when he canned a 60 footer for par with a shot. Lost 4 to another par with a shot, halved 5 with bogies, birdied 6 and then parred 7 to get back to all square. Half 8 with a par giving a shot then lose the 9th (long par 5 and he's close in 3 and I make bogey). Think I was 1 over gross and 1 down at the turn. Miss the fairway right by a couple of yards at 10 and never find it then lose 11 to a par with a shot so suddenly 3 down. Win 12 but lose 13 to a bogey with a shot, win 14 but then lose 15 to a bogey with a shot again. Win 16 to leave myself 2 down with 2 to play, hit a decent tee shot at 17 to about 20ft only to watch my oppo crunch it to 4ft. Left the putt hanging and shook hands :(

Played OK but beaten by the better player on the day, hopefully get the other result in the pairs next week lol

Ours was played at the end of April and we won 2 and 1. I think that it was 9 games in all and a new hip mid competition. Name going on the honours board.

Think that's quite generous of you - giving 11 strokes and losing narrowly still makes you the better player in my eyes.

I know what you mean though - he played better relative to his ability than you did to yours.

Hard lines.

Sad to say had the pairs final today and it went the same way the singles did last week, played OK but we just weren't good enough against a very very good pairing. Played against guys off 3 and 8 and they 4 were under gross at the turn and 4 up. We fought hard to get back in it and won a couple of holes with birdies coming home but wasnt to be and we lost 3&2 on the 16th :(

sorry i must have been asleep for 3 months and missed the summer golf!! no hang on it is still JUNE how come your only just playing a winter comp.our winter comps have to be finished BEFORE the summer rules apply or how can it be fair on the people who played and lost say in November?

I made it through to both finals by the end of March and then ruptured a calf muscle, both my finals opponents were consulted and agreed to wait for me to return to fitness and to play the finals rather than be handed a victory. Club were happy with it too as no other games were waiting to play the winners as such (I had to conceed my summer knockout matches!), hence the 2 finals have been played in the last 2 weeks.

Not sure how it affects people already out of a comp as to when the final is played, and none at our place would have an issue with the delays due to exceptional circumstances as far as im aware
