Winter golf clothing - recommendations please.

I love winter golf clothes, I prefer winter golf as I like wrapping up warm and heading out.

15 years as a kid hill walking every summer in the UK does that to you I guess...

In a way I like winter golf more than summer golf.
This is very strange to me:confused:

Weirdo ;)

Just like kev said, you can get away with nearly anything but you need to keep your hands warm or you'll not enjoy winter golf one bit. Mitts are an absolute must, also worth trying the Zippo hand warmers, I swear by mine. Just that little bit extra warmth goes along way.

Was in TK Max this morning, they were selling Under Armour Storm trousers for £24, by chance the first pair I looked at were exactly my size..... Now in the wardrobe waiting cooler weather.

Under armour, cotton roll neck jumper, woollen V neck and a beanie. Only put waterproofs in rain as hate swinging in them unless I have too. Good pair of winter mittens are my top tip. Can't do anything if you can't feel the club in your hands

LOL Had to smile when i read this. I'am with you SB, i've always loved the cold. You feel more alive somehow.

As stated above, you can't beat Sealskinz, had me beanie nearly 10 yrs now and still looks new. I agree with KotT aswell. For value its hard to beat the Karimoor technical stuff. True its not Goretex, but then we're playing golf, not tramping up the congo basin in the rainy season.
Keeping your hands warm, and the wind out are the key to enjoying winter golf, imho of course.

I don't like and struggle with too many layers so good quality light winter clothing is a must for me.

I have some Cross trousers which are excellent, I don't wear them over golf trousers though, sometimes shorts but others wise just my boxers ;)

I wear a M&S Thermal Ribbed Vest,there superb.

Under Armour Thermal Base Layer Vest if extremely cold

Adidas long sleeve Climalite or Climacool shirt.

Glenmuir lined jumper.

I then have a Sunderland jacket which is light, 100% waterproof and has been through some huge tests and come out a winner every time.

I've also got a very light, short sleeved FJ Waterproof top which Oddsocks and I had to buy when we both got caught out at Pyford.

Got a Ashworth Wind Top for those in-between cold, windy but dry days.

I mix & match the above to suit the conditions.

Oh and my Nike Contour ll's get shelved for my AQL's with Stingers in.

Head over to Sports Direct for some excellent Callaway bargains!

http://www.sportsdirect.com/Callaway/

Got myself a few bits and bobs including the Torrent Jacket (£239.99>£64.99) and trousers (£119.99>£31.99). Fantastic suit 1/20,000 rated like Gore-Tex and stretch fabric. As good as my Galvin Green gear (so far).

Also got the bonded jacket (£99>£26) and the track top (£80>£19), both fleece lined.

All-in-all £540 worth of quality gear for only £142

Hows the Callaway stuff come up size wise Sapcor?

Also, are the torrent trousers lined (or just overtrousers?)

Sizing is comparable with adidas Regular fit, slightly larger than Galvin Green

The jacket comes with a detachable fleece gilet/vest. The shoulder have some grippy fabric for bag straps. The material is stretchy, very lightweight, similar to Gore-Tex stretch

Thanks Sapcor

Would you wear the torrent trousers on their own or only as an overtrousers? (i guess im trying to get whether theyre like performance shell or paclite in GG terminology)

Maybe on their own in the summer or over shorts, which I have done. For cooler weather I'd wear them over trousers or thermal longjohns.

The bonded and track jackets are excellent too

Thanks mate, really want a pair that can be worn on their onw in winter, expect Ill end up shelling out for the GG Alfs finally. Am going to order a Bonded jacket :)

The Alf's are great, you can still wear trousers under them.

These waterproofs are the nearest thing to GG I have came across and even though I didn't really need them, the price was too good to pass up.

Wore the bonded jacket this morning

If I order some stuff online from Sports Direct, can I send back what doesn't fit me and keep what does? I'm going to order a large and extra large in that jacket and return whichever one doesn't fit me.

Yes, under the distant selling laws you are allowed to send anything back at your own cost for exchange or refund.
