No i didn't mean the Saturday morning medal after the Friday night Madras :D
Played yesterday afternoon, wind was 20mph,with gusts to 35mph,and enjoyed every minute of the challenge, and used every club in the bag. Will be meeting full-throttle shortly for some more windy golf.
Obviously those living and playing near the coast, will be used to the challenge of windy golf, and will have a full repertoire of shots,to suit the conditions, but for us midlanders strong windy conditions are a more of a rarity.
So i'm wondering, who likes the challenge of playing in wind, and who doesn't ?

I love it - allows those that can play low shots on call to show what they can do.
It amazes me when I see players hit mooon balls on days like this. And then they say something along the lines of 'My range finder cant be working'! or 'That ball must be a dud'.
Give me a links course and spice it up by blowing a hooley please!:D

I'm not a huge fan of playing in the wind but have a round booked in later this afternoon and am actually really looking forward to. Figure it's better to play than not and will be a good opportunity to try a few things out. That is if my trolley doesn't get blown over!! If you can play in the wind then those still days will be so much easier. In theory, at least....

Played in high winds yesterday, played as well as I have for a while only dropping 4 shots. I love playing in the wind, makes the course feel very different and find yourself playing lots of shots you dont normally have to or choose to play, for someone who gets easily bored playing the same course the wind is a godsend.

Im not a wind lover,my course is inland and usually its calm.
I play Ilfracombe on the north devon coast, and its always windy and i hate it.
I am improving though.
Good point about players trying to throw it up high in the wind, pointless.

im just in from 18 and the weather was terrible. Heavy rain for spells and constant wind.. I loved every second of it. I got to play shots that I wouldnt normally play, including some high shots that used the wind to turn the ball... Another 18 planned for tomorrow and I hope the wind is up again...

Played yesterday in ferocious wind -30 mph - and came off with 37 points, 78 gross with 2 doubles...
Quite pleased with myself!
The way I play it is to play conservatively, don't go for long carries or par 5's in 2 unless downwind. Play for position and use the wind rather than fighting it.
Got a Monthly Stableford tomorrow with Fragger and the wind doesn't look like dropping anytime soon - could be interesting.....

Windy 9 times out of 10 where I play so fairly used to it.

What it does do is show you how important it is to swing smoothly and not murder the ball! Still can't get into my stupid head to do it when it's calm right enough....

Some of my best golf/scores are in the wind as you have to club up and play a lot of 3/4 shots. Amazing how the accuracy increases doing that, for me anyway

Played 3 times over the weekend and Monday and the conditions were very different each day - hot sunny, calm on Saturday then blustery but fairly dry Sunday - then blowing a right hoooley and tipping down Monday.

Played my best round Monday and won my medal category with a 0.6 cut. Still stunned!

3/4 shots were the order of the day and left the wedges in the bag most shots.

I had to use up a 4 ball voucher for The Island golf club along the Malahide Estuary in North Dublin today.
A fantastic course and would have loved to be able to play it on a calmer day.
I am not a big hitter, so had a couple of 300 metre downwind drives and a couple of 190 metre par 3 drives.
I am undecided if playing in such strong winds is good for your game.
If you ever get the chance play the island. Fantastic.

Used to hate it but now I enjoy the challenge, as the old Pros say; "swing with ease into the breeze".

I like playing with guys who try to smash it into the wind and their shot balloons up and goes nowhere. Then I ease one into the wind and it just seems to cut through it and stays straight. :)

It was the windiest I remember playing in today, and another inevitable 0.1.

I'd probably have had 0.1 anyway as my irons have gone to pot and I've caught lip-out disease from someone last week!

Played last night and it was quite windy, about 30mph at least a 4 club wind. played pretty well, games just coming good now the season is all but over.
:(
2 over for the front into the wind level for the back but only played 5 holes cut out 13,14 and 15.

18th 500 yards + was drive, 6 iron and that went though the back.

i love links golf :p
