Will Tiger miss the Masters

There simply isnt another of the worlds best players over the years that have conducted themselves quite as badly on, or off the course, as TW.
Nicklaus, Watson, Seve, Norman, Palmer, Trevino, Player, have all been complete and utter 100% Gentlemen, gratious in defeat, and glorious in success, and wthout a hint of petulance or arrogance.

Great Golfer....undoubted.
One of Golf's Greats' ? - No way.

There's no way of saying 100% that the stars of yesteryear didn't have affairs etc. The media today is far more intrusive than it was thirty years ago so it was easier to 'get away' with indiscretions. I'm not saying any of the past stars were playing the field (Faldo has an eye for the ladies though.....), just stating the difference in the media.

Also, Tiger's won 14 majors - he has to go down in history as one of the greats. His off course behaviour will always be mentioned as an aside but he's a great of the game.

I think to be a great you not only have to be a excellent golfer but contribute back into the game, something Tiger hasnt done and with the added 14 affairs whilst trying to sell himself as a family man for me doesnt even put him in the top 5 all time greats.

The Tiger foundation?

I seem to recall reading an article on Tiger recently linking him with a doctor / clinic in LA(?) who has administered human growth hormone to athletes, which I believe is illegal. The only way Tiger won't play at the Masters is if this story gains momentum closer to Augusta and escalates, therefore raising the whole 'drug' issue in golf.

A number of very high profile athletes have had affairs in the past and, whilst obviously having a huge negative impact to their image etc, have continued to prosper in their professions once all the furore had died down. This will be no different for Tiger.

So although his 'family man' image has been shot to pieces, he is still the No.1 golfer on the planet and the man everyone else will have to beat when he tees it up. I hope that when he returns he is a bit more humble, less petulant, and more communicative. I also hope that when he returns he fellow pros will now raise their games and challenge him more regularly and really make him work to beat Jack's record.

but contribute back into the game, something Tiger hasnt done

not sure that's true, though with the emphasis of his charity work focussed mostly on children and family, there could be a lot of damage there too.

he'll still make the golfing hall of fame though.

Yeah I was wrong, just checked the TW foundation. I do agree with you though.

The old adage that a leopard never changes his spots i suppose is quite poignant. Question is will there be TW_AT the Masters?!!! :) :D ;)

Errr, tigers have stripes! ;)

If he intends to play the masters, two things need to happen.

He WILL play in a tournament before it as it would be madness to make Augusta his comeback.
His PR people will be working overtime to ensure that all the baggage is out of the way and ensure that he goes on a major charm offensive prior to him hitting his first ball.

Personally, I don't think he will play. I think it is a little too early

Purrrrfect reply. I agree that if he returns Augusta will not be the 1st competition. And his PR company will definatley be working OT on his image as we speak!!

I hope he makes it for the masters. To me golf wasnt the same when he was out injured but thats cause I grew upo watching him play and I look forward to watching him again.

Wonder did any of his "lady friends" video his "swing". Now thats a clip thats worth a fortune....
