Why why flippin why.

18 hole stableford today. Front nine 17 points, back nine 16 points. Millimetres from a couple of birdies. But three flippin blobs and a couple of one pointers. How the flippin Eck can you bang in five pars playing off 20 but have three blobs and. Couple of one pointers. The double and triple pointers are killin me round and have been all year. Ave won my division 11 or 12 times this year and could and should of smashed every time, but slack holes have cost me. When I left today I was leading overall but that may well change.

What is it poor shot selection? pressure? am to thick for that. Last week, 21 points front nine 12 on the back and hit every fairway bar the last. Flippin game.

You had a typical 20hcp'er round, what's the problem? Most high handicappers could save a lot of shots with better course management, simple as that :thup:

im playing off 14, last round I was 75 gross after 17 holes. Played solid, no blobs just good golf. Took me 8 shots to get down on the 18th. AAAARRGHHHHH!!!

Yup that I know, but what I don't know is how to get rid of them blobs. Think a lot of it is down to shot selection. Will have to somehow get my head around bad shot selection

I do that off my handicap, its not just restricted to 20+ handicappers.

To have three blobs off a 20 handicap is nothing unusual. There aren't many rounds I play, off 9, where I score on every hole & 1, 2 or 3 blobs is not unheard of. I've seen you play, Tash, & it's simply a case of the fact that if you don't hit enough good shots. If you're anything like me, you'll also drop shots every round by playing the wrong shot. You'll try to salvage a par from a difficult position & finish up taking a double bogey. It's very rare that I can look back on a round & say I didn't chuck away shots through bad thinking. When you've finished, go back over the round in your head & ask yourself what you could have done differently. I bet that bad thinking will have usually cost you a couple of shots. Odds on that a sharper short game would save a few too.

My comment about the being to thick to suffer from pressure also covers the thoughts of erratic scoring and getting used to it 😄

Is it the same holes? What is causing the blob holes? Is it a bad drive, greedy second, or is it totally random? Off 20 you are close. Stick with it and try and work out where the bad holes come from

Totally random, some of the holes I have blobbed I have parred and vice versa. Thing is of the five that played today I won but it's just that little something I am looking for to get that " round" as you say "Homer it is close"
