Why o why am I so consistent off the tee with my 12 deg driver. It ALWAYS slices! The only way I can stop this is to shorten my back swing to approx 60% and drag my right foot back ( right hander). This resulting in A, distance is servearly compromised and B, I get some very odd looks when teeing up.

Please help

On the range, swing with BOTH your thumbs off the grip

This will hopefully do one of two things :
- tell you your grip is very wrong, because in which case you wont be able to hold the club, so if that happens, work on a proper grip
- or hopefully it will stop you strangling the club on the way down which keeps the face open (often the case if you have a long fast swing)

Good luck - worked for me many years ago

what you need to work out is what is happening in the other 40% of your swing to cause the change (it could be a lot of things so I'm not going to double guess - see a pro).

the movement of your right leg will have the effect of encouraging you to take the club away less outside, or more inside, the line you will be taking with your 'normal stance'
