Why is the driver so hard to hit?

Until last year, i found the Driver the easiest club in the bag to hit. i was never long but always straight.

worked on my iron play and putting, which is now pretty good.. unfortunately my driving is now phish.... short and wayward..:(

now i know how others felt all those times i split the fairway and they were in the rough:(

For me it's harder to control because I am going after it, and can't find a good balance between control and aggression. With my irons etc I know how far I need them to go and pick a target to aim at. But with driver, although I have a target, I'm just trying to get it as far as possible.

Because people try to hit it too hard. If you cant reach with a 9, club up to an 8 If you cant reach with a 6, club up to a 5 With a driver, you can't club up so to reach, you have to hit it harder. WHEN YOU TRY AND HIT THE DRIVER 10 YARDS FURTHER, YOU WILL HIT IT 10 YARDS LESS. Find out how far your driver goes with a comfortable swing and try and hit it that distance ALL THE TIME Obviously, wind and slope will have an affect on that distance but if you learn to swing the driver the same every time, you will find more fairways. HTH

If this is true, why is the easiest shot in golf the provisional? The one where the only swing thought is hit it with vemon.

Only one swing thought? I maybe on to something here...

Slow and steady is the key. Today my best drive was a reachable par 4 in which I found the bunker but had lovely flight because I just swung easy to keep it straight in the hope of hitting the downslope and rolling onto the green. I proceeded to carry the downslope and almost carry the first bunker but the lip caught it
