Think I may be misunderstanding but if you accept a prize of more than 500 quid then you will lose your Amateur status.

Unless your club just ignore all the rules, because the comp is a tradition. Don't get me started, I am with you on this one, but getting a 130 year old golf club to change on your own is not easy.

A mate of mine has won it twice in the last 3 years, and I keep trying to persuade him to play me off scratch, as he is now clearly a pro, but he won't have it. He still insists in playing off his club handicap of 6. he should not have one. End of.

I though they changed the rules this year to allow for amateurs to win cars etc, That is way more than £500.

I think that's specifically for Hole-in-One prizes rather than overall comp prize.

I may not be a runner for the meet Martin. Could be difficult getting the day off now as I forgot to mark it in the holiday rota at work and my boss has now taken that week off. We may be taking another salesman on which would free me up, but until the decision is made I am still 50/50.
