Why do I see Golfers leave their bags alongside the fairway, then walk 80 yards back to the tee carrying a driver, duff the shot, walk 80 yards back to their bags, choose another club, walk 70 yards and play.........?

Why do I see, when I go into the locker room, a pile of grass that somone has painstakingly extracted from the soles of their golf shoes, but couldn't be bothered to put in the bin?

Why do I see Greens, fairways and rough in a lush, green state and then see teeboxes looking like they have been imported from the middle of Africa whilst in the middle of a heatwave.......

Feel free to add...........

I will lend you my rose tinted glasses next time I see you Ian.:)

......not bother repairing pitch marks on the green?

......Improve their lie in the rough?

......"forget" shots they have played on a hole?

.... everyone in a group fill out their scorecards for the last hole before anyone thinks about tee-ing off.

Not repairing pitchmarks really bugs me, some of our greens are shocking at the moment.

Dont tell me, The 6th hole at Aylesbury Park

If you dont take your bag down, you will need it,
If you do take your bag down, you wont need it (mostly)

wait for the green to clear 300 yards away for their 2nd shot when the first only went 100 and they would be lucky to reach the target in another 3 shots anyway.

After holding the whole course up for 5 hours, and taking 10 minutes to chip and putt on the 18th green, they then spend another 5 minutes, checking scores, marking scorecards, shaking hands, kissing and generally dawdling around on the green when I'm waiting to play my 4th shot.
GET OFF THE GREEN

I'm glad I'm doing it right. Played my 1st 9 holes the other day and I teed off whilst a guy in front was on the green (par 4s and 5s only). I'm lucky to hit the ball 175 yards so no chance of hitting the chap.

Why do I see...

...fag ends strewn about the course as if they are not litter
...idiots using range finders 25yds from the green
...guys with remote control trolleys strolling (at a snails pace) about as if they owned the bleedin' place

and relax...

If I let all the little things wind me up I'd never set foot on the course. It's a bit like being in work. Some days are better than others. Take away your playing performance, some days the course flows, there is sand in traps and every tee box is level. You don't see the fag ends and everyone is moving off greens before marking cards and leaving bags properly.

Other days, like work its crap. The course is slower than the M25 in the rush hour, tee boxes need sherpas, bunkers are bare, players wander round in a daze and it takes an eternity to clear the green. What will be will be and I'm trying to keep a glass half full chilled persona
