Why do I always get teary eyed......

Same happens to me when I hear the Olazabal interview following his Ryder Cup win as Captain, talking about Seve.........:o

If you want to really blub, watch the last interview that Seve had with Peter Allis.
Right at the end, Seve is crying when he remembers that the end is not far away.
One of the most heartbreaking things I have ever seen, and I don't mind admitting I cried like a baby for what seemed ages.

I think Seve's death is the only time I have cried at the death of someone I didn't know personally. Growing up he was my hero and bunking off school to watch the final round of the 1988 Open I was able to see him at his absolute best, Legend.

Seve the movie gets me every single time. Not ashamed to admit it has me blubbering every time.

Seve died a couple of days after my grandad. I like to think of them walking down a fairway together from time to time.

The story about Ollie and Seve when Seve won the lifetime achievement award at the SPOTY was the one that got me. Apparently after the cameras stopped rolling Ollie slumped on Seve's knee and was inconsolable. Seve consoled him like a father to a son. I dont think anyone can ever appreciate the closeness of their relationship and its difficult to imagine two golfers ever having the same sort of relationship.

I've got the Seve dvd and always have a watch when i need cheering up. I'm too young to remember him in his pomp but it is a joy to watch him play on dvd's etc. As Alliss said on the dvd, Seve was one of those few sports people that you'd pay good money to watch.

I dont think i cried when he passed but i remember being very moved.

very few people have this charisma - George Best, Botham, Seve, Pele, Maradona, Madonna, Steve Mcqueen, Tiger etc etc.

Just something about them, that makes them stand out from the rest of us mere mortals.....

Have to disagree with Tiger and Pele. Tiger has zero charisma and always appears miserable. Pele seems a nice chap and was fantastic to watch but he isnt on the same level as Seve, Botham etc on the charisma stakes.

I'm welling up just reading this thread! Whenever I think of him i remember the fist pump and the smile, but also the heartbreaking bbc documentary (wasn't it linekar who interviewed him?), as well as olly giving him the spoty trophy...they could barely contain themselves.

I bloody loved the bloke, remember exactly where I was when I heard he'd died, and whenever I watch a video clip of him I both smile and get something in my eyes!

Amazes me how universally well loved he is in this country, testament to the man.

None of those listed above (Madonna?) come close in my opinion.

I was a 15 year old golf crazy kid when Seve burst onto the scene at the 1976 Open. It was just one of those unforgettable moments in time. You could see immediately he was special and he never lost it. In those days European golfers didn't win anything. He soon changed that. What he did was incredible. He looked like a romantic swashbuckling hero and he played like one. I was lucky enough to see him play in person and it was the only time I have ever witnessed a sportsman who had such a total engagement with his game and his fans.

I cried when he died.

I'm crying now.
